I wonder if Dreamworld will get upset with all these kids running around without parents after this :D

The Ekka is so small and shitty since they've turned most of the old facilities into residential units, it's no wonder they need to add on theme-park entry. Shame that the theme-park is Nightmareworld.

This is such a cynical take. I grabbed discounted family Ekka tickets for $36 for a family of 4, and I think that's great value with the amount of free stuff to see and do. Dreamworld as well was pretty good when we had $50 yearly passes. Generally not too crowded, fast moving lines, good rides for kids and adults. Like I'm not seeing the issues here at all, especially considering the price.

Let me guess, you didn't go to the Ekka in the 90s/early 00s so you don't see how much free stuff and agriculture stuff (that entire point of the Ekka) has been taken away?

They should have moved the Ekka to a different site instead of shrinking it over and over again.

I've been going to the Ekka on and off for 30+ years. I still think under $10 a ticket is a pretty good deal relative to other carnivals/shows/exhibits etc. Full price I wouldn't say is worth it.

        • They've done the same in Sydney too. Kicked the guts out of what used to be at Moore Park; has gone downhill ever since they moved it out to Homebush Olympic Park. Plenty of space but the good parts have gone to the dogs. No more chair lift or major governmental exhibits. The agricultural bits get shoved down the back out of the way.
