I suspect Bunnings is matching/beating ALDI upcoming cordless tools

    • Is the Aldi one worth buying?

  • +2

I paid $25 for this a few years back, it's not quite strong enough for putting together ikea furniture.

    • +1

not quite strong enough for putting together ikea furniture

In that case, unless you're Mr Burns, a screwdriver might be a better option 😳

      • +4

Just ask Smithers to do it for you

        • +3

Smithers is away on holiday, on an Island that doesn't allow photography.

    • I bought the IKEA electric screwdriver recently and have been pretty happy with it - Good to just keep a #2 Philips head on and grab quickly without needing to get a battery or anything.

      • Same, the ikea one has had plenty of power for putting together ikea furniture. This has less??

        • +1

Must do, I've never used it. I liked the IKEA one because it was USB C rechargeable, whereas this looks like it's got a base with a Micro USB plug.

      • If assembling Ikea furniture, the correct bit to use is a PZ2 rather than a PH2. I found out after stripping a couple of screws because of repeated cam-outs.

I'd keep a watch out for a Bosch IXO … sometimes they sell for similar $ as this thing with the offset attachments on Ebay second hand, mines 8yrs old & still good, used several times a week. & was my daily use screwdriver before retirement, lots of torque for a small device!

      • I had an IXO and it was garbage. Didn’t hold a charge, micro usb, battery died after a year.

        • The promo video for it is wild. Why does an electric screwdriver have an optional bbq blower attachment…

    • Are you sure?

Mine is really strong for holes that already exist or IKEA/MDF.

I don't think Ikea even sells solid wood that you have to screw into?

      • Having put many IKEA furniture together, my rough estimate is 90% of the time I go get the power drill instead.

        • +1

I do too, but only because I'm lazy and want it done fast. I definitely end up over drilling and damage the MDF sometimes.

          • @samfisher5986: I always start with the clutch set at 1 for furniture for this reason and step it up a notch or two later

    • +1

I recently put together a few ikea book shelves, shoe rack, some other brand king signle bed fraame, queen bed frame and a messmate solid wood king bed frame that came with pre drilled holes using this Ozito cordless screwdriver. I thought this would struggle with it but had no isses whatsoever.

    Are you sure $39.98 isn’t it’s RRP?

    https://pricehipster.com/product/AYj9B1h5cACGLecm-JMFbA

    • my bad! I guess no deal then!

      • I did get excited for a brief moment if it was half price, shame it’s micro usb charging though. Missed that Kogan 15$ deal so on the look out for something.

  • I tried such electric screwdriver from aldi, ikea and sold them in marketplace. I find good ratcheting screwdriver to be useful for general use like assembling ikea furnitures.

  • Should be the regular price for this.
I have one of these not using it much tbh

Imo, a drill does a better job in most cases (if the screw is reachable) as it has pressure sensitive trigger

  • I have 2 of the WORX brand ones (https://amzn.asia/d/6BwHC0q)

Perfect for ikea (and other) furniture, and the quick swap bits make it such a breeze.

Oof, micro USB is a hard sell for me these days

    • Yeah, if it didn't charge from completely flat to full in 7.45 seconds I'd lose my mind!

      • +1

I get where they're coming from though, its a bit of a pain having to have micro usbs (or any other additional cable types) accessible

        • I have mini, micro barrel jack & newer on different devices here, it's NOT a deal breaker when I can get something as good & often better as something but older with an older charging port for much less, someone buying this Ozito POS to drive some things into something once in a while should not be considering the charging port, they should consider the quality of the future landfill.

      • There will come a time when that's true as well :)

  • +2

I bought this like 5 years ago and it's been great. Battery lasts long.

    • +1

It does the job easily. Anyone who can't use it is a muppet. Saves the effort of using your hands, thats all. Yet some people say its worse? Lol. Myself and a couple mates that have this use it for lots of stuff. From PC parts to furniture. Yes this is the regular price, so no deal. Has been this price for around 10 years! Only bad thing is the micro usb takes a while to charge.

  • +3

I purchased this for $25 3 years ago. It is barely worth $25, no way it's worth $40

    • Yup, I'm off the brand completely, when I explained why to some fanboys here on ozbargain "this one time at ozbargain crap" (the stuffs been completely woeful! IME)

fanboys lost their tiny minds & one called me a Lier, I didn't return the stuff after swapping several pieces from a box set, the drill was DOA the impact driver had an intermittent fault & almost had me smash the POS on the floor at the trade counter as it only displayed the fault at home when attempting to use it, Bunnings boy who dealt with returns would not replace it till he saw it display the fault in front of him, luckily he was listening the last time I took it back as I kept pulling the trigger on the way out the door & he heard it for himself … WTF wants to drive back & forth & get jerked round attempting to exchange a working tool, whole thing infuriated me! 2 115mm angle grinders burnt out as the brush holders melted and would do so quickly even when under no working load! 2 tools still work out of 5 … what's broken is in a box that goes to landfill if I need the room in the shed & a reminder to always buy a quality brand!

        Maybe a user issue?

All of my Ozito hardware has literally been perfect, never let me down or stopped working.

        • Happy for you, not my experience! … oh yeah, the batteries have been poor also, looked after them & they still Sh!t themselves well before they should!

  • 3.6V, I saw it as 36V and thinking what screwdriver needs 36V..

  • Rotating rear handle was more useful than I thought when putting together furniture. I was considering between this, Bosch GO 3 and Bosch IXO 7. Whilst other reviews say they are very different quality wise, I coudn't justify paying almost double for less bits as well. However I would have bought the Kogan one here if it was avaialble - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/915719

  • $39.98 is the RRP for this.

What I find really useful about this unit is you can change it from pistol grip to a straight form factor.

  • +1

Negging because it's not a genuine bargain, it's RRP.

  • An Ozito brushless compact drill driver is $50 at the moment. I'd get that instead. I know it's a different tool, but the two electric screwdrivers I've had were both gutless and shit.
