$15 Kmart one will do for the kid

    • +20

Why spend money, just hold the child? What a waste of $15, hand back your OzBargain membership kid

      • +4

Make the kid walk, otherwise whats the purpose of their legs?

        • +2

Kids can’t use an iPad while walking. Got to have them constantly watching a screen now.

      • Put the kid in a shopping bag

      • +1

Why have a kid at all? Such a bad investment.

    • +4

A good prams not for the kids, it’s for the parents transporting them.

      • Expensive prams are not always good tho

        • No, they’re not.

I’d say the Uppababy is however a good one.

  • +1

Where can I get a replacement box?

    • +15

a surprisingly common thought phrase after having a child

  • How violent are the guys delivering your stock?! So many damaged boxes!

    • +5

just another way to discount their overpriced products….

  • Baby not included.

  • -7

Of course the decent colour is sold out.
no one wants grey, black, dark navy for prams in summer

    • Uh what kind of colour are you looking for?

  • +6

Great pram. Probably too expensive and it's so bloody big in the boot. But great pram, at least ill keep telling myself that.

    • It really is a solid pram, great to work with, but it's very big. We just bought a travel pram that's muccccchhhh more compact. Not as smooth of a ride but a good tradeoff for those times you want something that breaks down a bit more.

  • +1

This pram will maintain its 3 year warranty.

So it’s perpetually under a 3 year warranty. Woo life time warranty.

  • rover?

  • +8

Guys, I bought this 2 weeks ago. I picked it up from Braeside warehouse.
I’m still trying to figure out what part of the box is damaged 🤣.
Good discount. Not like your wheeling the kid around the In the box!

For those who say it’s too expensive…it’s probably the one thing in life you should spend money on.
Not half the other crap posted here!

    • +3

      humm… overpriced doesn't mean it's bad. like a 5090

      • +2

Definitely not overpriced in my opinion.
Not when I did my comparison to the others.
I wasn’t swayed by the “cult branding” some get.
In fact when I compared the others in the room, they (the others) felt fairly cheap.

        • +2

I was the same - initially only knew of Redsbaby, Silver Cross, Joolz and a few other popular brands until my partner tested in instore including checking the build quality, ergonomics and dynamics and this one came out on top despite being more than what we were initially looking at with our budget.

We found the quality better than some brands twice as expensive and similar to Ergobaby and other popular products they retain value well on the used market.

          • +4

@BlueGlowOne: Exactly. I didn’t go straight to this one. In fact I went back to it two and three times and nothing came close except for maybe the “donkey” but was just too wide.

If I’m taking the time to comment on this post, something I don’t even do anymore than that speaks something. I’m also classified as a “tightass” 😅😅

          • +1

@BlueGlowOne: Agree, I was in the same boat.

        • +2

Prams are definitely overpriced and over rated. Been through two expensive prams and a Kmart $20 stroller. Loved the Kmart stroller the best. Didn't care if it broke, got stolen, etc. But it was the strongest and most versatile of them all and still perfect today. People who say otherwise are just trying to console themselves after the spend.
Sure I wouldn't put a newborn or baby under 12 months in a stroller but I would never recommend anyone spend top dollar on a pram especially if they have to give up spending on something else.

          • @0 0 0: I've used multiple prams.

A Kmart pram is fine if all you do is use a car to go to the shopping centre or occasionally drive to a park etc

But if you use it a lot for actual transportation between home and somewhere else a nicer one goes a long way for comfort.

Not sure why you would need another pram unless it's a smaller portable one because these things early break and if they do the warranty policy is one of the best in the world.

    • +2

Of all the things in this world, I'm not sure prams are the "one thing in life you should spend money on"… seems like a very low bar

  • +2

Have had an Alta/Cruz for 10 years. It's our only pram/stroller. Still works like the day we bought it.

  • -6

It's a status symbol pram. Nothing more, nothing less.

It could be priced at $2,999 RRP, reduced to $2,399…and people will still purchase.

    • +7

It’s absolutely not. It’s a pram that has passed others in the market in terms of its features and durability.
I’d rather spend $$ on something that’s designed to actually fit the mould. I had the same mindset when I kept hearing about it…but there is a reason why it’s so popular. It’s because it’s a good pram. Period

  • Having kids will damage your box.

Having kids will damage your EVERYTHING.

As usual there is a lot of judgement towards the (prospective) owners of these prams because of the cost and how they absolutely should have just opted the cheapest alternative because this is ozbargain.

Interesting that at the same time there can be so much positive attention towards the latest Apple Galaxy S16 Pro Max Super Ultra when a random cheapo prepaid phone from Kmart could do technically the same job.

Like why buy a Rolls Royce/BMW/Lexus/Toyota/Mitsubishi when we can just go with a Chery? They technically also do the same thing and just move people and things from A to B? Why not get the cheapest generic tyres when Michelin/Bridgestone/Pirelli are so much more expensive?

Sure, they can just be seen as a status symbol or high yield investment, or maybe just that these more expensive options are nicer/better/safer and people can make up their own minds about what is good value to them and their circumstances?

Don't get me wrong, people should absolutely share their experiences of products at whatever price point, but I can't help but feel that some go over the top in pushing their views onto others.

As a disclaimer, I have one of these but it was only thanks to the generosity of family members who made contributions towards one. I would not have purchased one myself, especially not at RRP, but my research (online and in person) showed that there are, as expected, pros and cons for prams at all price points. My Vista has been excellent to use and many of its features and included accessories have come in handy.

There is also a decent second hand market for these on marketplace, but then like buying any used item, YMMV as a buyer or seller.

Like why buy a Rolls Royce/BMW/Lexus/Toyota/Mitsubishi when we can just go with a Chery?

Oh don't worry, the same people are in threads for Japanese vehicles talking doom and gloom about how they'll be lucky to be in Australia next year with all the Chinese stuff, but in a really weird way that just strikes me as going for gold in mental gymnastics.

Load up an RM Williams (or a Hush Puppies) thread for the same thing, purely focused on how RMW were previously owned by LVMH and how the quality has dropped, despite none of them even knowing what the quality aspects of a pair are. I have literally seen people talk about going through multiple pairs of Hush Puppies per year at $70-100 a pair and thinking that's a decent option rather than buying a pair of RMW on sale for $400 that will last many.

We ended up being gifted an as-new Baby Jogger for bub and it's been excellent but I'd gladly spend this amount of money on a pram because we use it so damn much.

      • That's a good reference. I have had my RMs for ~15 years with one full recondition around 8 years ago (took them to all four corners of Australia for work rain hail or shine). My previous boss has had his for over 20 years and would get his fixed up via a 3rd party for a third of the cost of RM service. RMs also sell used in mint condition for good seller prices.

In comparison, I like my Hush Puppies that cost a quarter of the price but the comfort, thinner materials and wear and tear is not RM level.

        • +1

It's made me realise very clearly that as much as people here love a (perceived) bargain, it doesn't mean buying it is a financially sound decision. I'm more of a BIFL guy though.

  • -3

$1399 for a pram/piece of plastic? It is certainly for an UPPA class baby - I'm guessing top quality plastics and a $50 cost of production.

  • Ozb Strollers should only be bought secondhand from marketplace..

  • +3

People who claim that cheaper prams do the same as the more expensive ones either have never had a kid, or have never tested the prams.

I'm not saying the costs aren't over-inflated, because they absolutely are. But the difference in our experience between the expensive prams and the cheaper ones was night and day.

The cheaper ones we looked at were heavier, bulkier, more awkward and didn't fold away as neatly as our Bugaboo Dragonfly. We love it.

It's light, nimble, easy to fold with one hand, folds up small, and is incredibly easy to swap the seat around. None of the cheaper ones we tested came close.

    • +3

There's absolutely a difference but once your child is around 1.5-2yr old youll find you need the expensive pram less. Having a cheap beater Kmart stroller takes less space, Super quick to set up (yes even quicker than a $1000-2000 pram).
My advice is not to over invest thinking it's a great long term investment because it really only is for the first year or two. Perhaps OK if you a planning to have at least two kids but otherwise I'd try to borrow from friends or family.
Fwiw I have three kids, could afford to buy the expensive prams (and did end up buying two) but definitely think that money could have been better spent elsewhere. Expensive prams are a status symbol more than anything.

      • We bought a not inexpensive pram (Cybex Balios) with a bassinet ahead of our first baby and we were very happy with it. I knew I didn't want to spent well over $1k for a pram but for what we got, we felt like they were well made and certainly close to the much higher priced prams like the Gazelle/Vista which were also bigger and ready for a 2 seater. It was also noticeably better built and really smooth compared to the cheap and nasty ones you could pick up from Kmart or whatever. So you definitely get what you pay for.

That said, daughter is now just over 1 and we just bought another pram, travel stroller, as we're going overseas and quite honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if it completely replaces the bigger but probably more comfortable full sized pram just because of how small and portable it is. My current pram already takes up like 2/3 the space of my boot. If I could do it again, I would've just bought a smaller, less expensive pram that can do the lie flat thing for newborns instead of the bigger pram and a separate bassinet

    • I don't think a Kmart pram is a good comparison, notwithstanding it could still be adequate.

$500 should be able to afford a stable, decent pram on special. I think it's a case of severe diminishing returns after that.

  • +1

V2 cruz is 999 at baby bunting not 1499 RRP

  • Baby Jogger City GTs is the only pram you ever need. Didn't but anything else more expensive.

They are the quickest pram to set up

  • +1

A brand new Cruz v2 for $800 is a great deal

  • -2

Is this for the damaged box or does it come with the pram?

I say this as a millennial, we really overdo it with kids stuff. Every single person I either work with or know personally, 30-40 years old, is so freaking competitive on the gear they’re buying their kids, the schools they’re planning to send them to, how easy they should make it for their kids etc.

There’s zero willingness to sacrifice or ‘save’ where they can. Our kids are not going to grow up resilient at all.

On top of all this, our generation complain housing is unaffordable.
