Deepseek AI Chat Boxes on AliExpress

I'm starting to see these little AI boxes on AliExpress and wanted to gauge other ozbargainer's thoughts on them.

There's very little to almost no Youtube reviews on them.
IMO they seem a bit creepy. They're always listening. Obviously the computing is not done on the device, so effectively you're talking to a server farm who-knows-where. I've grown used to using Gemini for random questions of interest, but Gemini is only listening when I activate the app (at least I hope) and I feel like there's more shackles and control on Gemini than Deepseek.

It's damn cheap, but I don't know if I'd want this in my house or on my network.

    I don't see any problem installing an always listening computer in my home network that has a direct connection to the Chinese government.

        Yeah, as an enterprise and industrial sysadmin I wouldn't know what it is or what it's capabilities are. Best to stay away.

            @bargaino: Name a Chinese company that won't hand over it's data without warrant or hesitation to it's government if requested. Any one.

            Or you could explain how our government is so deep in conspiracy they ban it on their own computers.
