As a majority digital person, I love the code in the box bc it means I get retail sales but digital items.

If I were a physical person though, this would piss me off to no end tbh. 90 bucks ON SALE and you're too cheap to give me a cart?

I was in JB yesterday and was slightly amused they were selling Donkey Kong for $99 and next to it had digital codes for $109.

Those was made all the worse considering they also were selling eshop credit at 10% off next to those.

Don’t really see the point in selling a digital copy of a game, on a cardboard card, right next to a cheaper physical copy and eshop gift cards.

Welcome to the future of owning a game, (not).

      • Even if you buy physical, you need so many patches on top of your base game to make it playable that it's almost like buying a code in a box. Sadly, this also means you cannot resell games after you have played them, and that is what is driving this push towards digital. Even xbox tried to implement a system where you would 'marry' a game to a console which almost made it impossible to even lend games to a friend, and they received huge backlash from it, but now the whole industry has shifted to the same thing.

You will own nothing and you will be happy

  • I would prefer a code and a hand shake.

  • Great Deal….for Big W!

    • Their wholesale price is the same regardless of what's in the box. What they pay is based on retail prices. They're not making extra money out of codes in a box compared to game cards. If anything, it's a bigger headache for them if they get returns as codes can't be reused.

What's the code OzBargain users have when meeting another user in public?
…as in a way to know they are a OzBargain user? I mean apart from them using hessian bags from bulk potatoes as clothing & shaving their head to save money on haircuts (even the women)

For me it's the anxiety of scrolling through 15 gift cards at the checkout to find the right one and worried people behind me are watching my madness

  • There should be an OzJokes branch where this thread, along with any other code in box Switch 2 game thread can go.
