Do Not Sign Upto Flow Power for Electricity

Not only is their app a slow laggy mess, their free tech stuff, doesn't even work, apparently needs more time after 2 weeks…
But their rates are a complete scam, based in VIC, they are charging 12c extra per kwh based on something called price efficiency, so 43c total!
Saved the worst part for last, I received $13 for my solar feed in (400kwh at 3.3c) but was also charged $41 (@ 10c per kwh) as seems it was at peak periods i.e. when the sun is up. Not sure what they expect me to do, turn off my solar?
This has to be the biggest scam company I've ever seen, worst part I was recommended via Vic energy compare as the cheapest, should be investigated somehow.

    So they charged you $30 to unburden you of your excess solar generated electricity?

    • Electricity prices frequently go negative in the middle of the day, so it costs them money to get rid of the excess solar.

      It's like wondering why it costs money to rent a skip when you're giving them all of this valuable trash.

        Isn't that the standing charge? If the electricity is useless I would gladly turn my feed in off or not get paid for it, but don't charge me for something that's out of my control

  • The charge for exporting solar to the grid during peak times is coming, very soon all retailers will be doing this as part of the new “two way charging export” rule which is taking place across the market. It’s the government’s way of forcing people to install batteries to use during off peak times.

    No idea if Flow has similar automation, but you literally just turn the system off to avoid exporting power when it's negative.

    • They don't have anything, there's supposed to a smart device to show usage but as I said it's been 2 weeks and it's still not working, according to their app I've saved 150$ somehow, I can't think what my energy bill would have been without this, it's gone from 150 per month to this first month of $400 with similar usage.
      This company is supposed to reward you for adjusting your usage to less peak times but all they've done so far is charge me extra.
