    Shin is the GOAT.
Add some spring onions, kimchi, and a square of plastic cheese. Drop an egg in while simmering if you want.

If you're feeling particularly fancy, add some Cabanossi as well.

On your way to an army stew there!

        • +3

I love army stew. Just throw a bunch of random ingredients left in the fridge and some spam, and voila.

          • @Wonderfool: army stew is sausages and other tings, put potatoes and mushrooms and kimchi and american cheese and bamboo and bean sprouts and fried tofu

you could just have REAL Ramen and be happy.

      • +3

People are buying this to save the $25 it costs to have real ramen in Aus. The saving makes them happy

you know its not hard to make real ramen. people are lazy is what your are saying

          • +1

@kungfuman: Lazy and/or having other priorities in life

            • @illusion99: good food and cooking is apart of life. Health should always be number one Priority people have no excuse.

              • +2

@kungfuman: Easy to say except when you’re working 2 jobs as a single parent and getting home at 2am starving and not having time to make real ramen

                • @illusion99: everyone struggles its part of life, it doesn't mean they can't make there life better only takes will power to do that.

              • +1

@kungfuman: Maybe earning enough to pay rent and not be homeless is number one.

Real ramen from a restaurant is expensive. Homemade ramen takes time and effort.

Instant ramen is a comfort food. Shouldn't have it every day (high salt content) but for a lazy meal, it's pretty much perfect.

    • Cracked or whole egg?

      • I'm lazy so I just drop the egg in in the last minute of cooking. I've been meaning to try the hard boil and soak in soy sauce method.

        • boiled is best, if you crack it will be all yucky

          • @9hundred: Surely sunny side up is the right choice!

            • @Craze: soft boiled is the best, or try century egg

I bet you can still use them 2 years past the date.

It is possible, but the residual oils on the noodles start to have some staleness (you can definitely smell it). It's still edible as long as it's air tight and kept in a cool/dry place.

I often would make sure to throw away the water it's cooked in, and get a 2nd batch of hot water for the soup base. It at least washes away some of the oils.

Pretty cheap for a snack instead of ordering uber when hangry in the a.m. timeframe!

  • +1

Wow, this is real cheap. Always been paying 5 bucks for them

    Waddya mean these expire?

    • News to me too.

    • Best before. At your own discretion, basically.

  • Where can I get the diet version of this? (Air dried not fried)

    • Your random Asian grocer most likely has it

    • air dried might be a teeny tiny bit less oil, but then you are going to add in all the artificial flavouring MSGeeeeee

      • Uncle roger approves.

    • diet version 😂

I thought I had a decent noodle game until a uni classmate of my son's straightened me out. These are his go-to brand of noodles (he's from an Italian family, BTW).
Boil the noodles, discard 3/4 of the water and THEN add the seasoning. Stir over a low heat for 1 minute, then add your protein, turn the heat off and cover for 2 mins (you can add an egg at this point if you like).
You get a quite wet noodle but the flavour is A1.

  • This stuff lasts as long as spam

  • Unless I missed it, I couldn’t find these on the shelf
