Broke Samsung Galaxy Fold 5 Screen - What Would You Do?

Hi Guys,

Seeking some advice on what you'd do if you were in my situation.

I just broke my main phone screen for Samsung Galaxy Fold 5. (My Fault)

It looks like on Samsung Website, it costs ~$900 to repair.

I suppose I have 4 options:
1. Repair the screen for $900
2. Repair from different/private phone repair shop? Anyone have any idea how much this will cost? I have 0 idea if this is feasible?
3. Sell this phone privately on Gumtree and buy a new Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 512gb. Again, anyone have any idea how much I might be able to get for this 512gb SGZ Fold 5 - Broken screen
4. Trade this phone into Samsung, and purchase the Samsung Galaxy Fold 7 512gb? Again, anyone have any idea how much I could get the Fold 7 for if I was to trade in a broken Fold 5?

I appreciate there's no right answer, so just seeking advice on what you'd do.
P.s I need a Samsung Fold phone for my use case.

Once they can fold in half

Isn't that why it broke ?

Try it on the new 'iPhone 17 Air' coming out…

      • Next year, says the rumours. And it won't be cheap, but apparently there won't be a visible crease.

      • I couldn't see Apple folding anytime soon, their current product line up seems very popular.

See if you have insurance that could cover it. Whether Samung's own like AppleCare, credit card coverage, or home contents inclusions etc. Otherwise, it's irrelevant what others would do, you decide what you want to do.

You can also find out how much it's worth to trade-in yourself…

Cracked screens are worth something too. Receive bonus credit towards the purchase of a new Galaxy device if your old device is eligible for our Trade-In Program.*

  • Fix it.

  • Mines insured under contents. But, if it wasn’t I’d just buy the latest one. $900 to repair a 2 gen old phone is a lot. Trade in is probably nil with a broken screen.

  • You could pay the $900 to get it fixed then sell it for $500 on GumTree and use that money to buy a new fold phone.
I purchase a phone, knowing it's liabilities before I hand over the cash. What was going through your head when you bought this?

Ahhh, yes, I too will often spend $900 to sell a phone for $500… Or here is a better idea, pocket the $900 and sell the phone for $50.

Trade it in and buy a new one, not worth the time or money to fix it. Get insurance for the new one.

  • Good trade ins going on nowadays. Got fold 7 256 GB in 930$ with trade in of iphone 15 pro max 256 gb

  • Trade in if the bonuses aren't done yet. You just say it's condition for trade in so there are no surprises. I'm loving my F7 btw
