Still pretty good. Chicken can be hit or miss. Burgers usually good.
Agree. Never had a disappointing burger there.
Friends overhyped it, tried it and got the driest, overcooked chicken ever. Never went back, can't recommend.
yea. El Jannah of the old is long gone.
Their friend chicken is over salted, gravy tasted artificial, and the garlic sauce - well, too much oil/margarine. Had it once or twice and never bother with it again.
Had same experience
I enjoyed the El Jannah near Punchbowl(?) but, hey, I'm from Queensland.
We don't have a charcoal chicken shop on every corner up here. It's unconstitutional I tells ya!Hit and miss
mine sometimes slightly too charcoally/burnt/salty
Typical of food produced and made in this country fast or otherwise, it's mainly a hit or more a miss as compared to the rest of the world. Wonder why is that?
Why do you think fast food elsewhere in the world is always a hit?
It's poor quality control… once they expand they don't have processes in place to keep the same standard… the original eljannah was very good… afl the expansion stores not so good
Why do you think fast food elsewhere in the world is always a hit?
Produce here is shite. Tasteless, dry, wet, small and way too expensive. Manpower is a lot to be desired. Mainly staffed by wet nosed kids who haven't even learned how to make breakfast cereals.
Pretty mid imo
Nope does not live up to the hype.
It was always average at best but these days it's terrible.
Their chicken is drier than the Sahara, and saltier than the dead sea.Frangos or Silvas are both 100x juicer and tastier. But sometime these days Frangos can be a bit average, but still 10x better than even the best El Jannah I had 15 years ago.
Just my 2c.
Used to be the king of chicken although some could argue it was because they had the best garlic sauce, but after all the franchises and competition and cost cutting, its nowhere near what it used to be
The same as GYG.
Bugger, I have never been to GYG, but i used to hear people talk about it all the time. Sounds like i missed my opportunity
I reckon the breakfast burritos are better than their regular ones now. Get in before 10:30 and you can give one a go.
GYG is one of the most overrated restaurants in the country. I don't get the hype.
Yes, Australia sucks for Mexican food.. that doesn't make GYG any better.
what special about their garlic sauce ?
It was just very buttery and great flavour and texture. Better than all the competitors garlic sauces. A friend and i do tests between restaurants at times and we always found el jannah garlic sauce beat any other charcoal chicken place we tried. We found it generally beat a lot of the kebab shops garlic sauce too, I dont think we compared it to Jasmins or Al Aseel so cant speak on that.
Their food seems way too pricey now tbh esp their wraps…
The OG El Jannah in Granville once was the best in the city. These days I go to La Mono in Merrylands or Henrietta for a modern take.
Only mon-wed? Thought I could have this for dinner tomorrow…😢
The rate that theyre expanding I just can't see it being sustainable. This is probably going to be the next Carl Jr in 2 years.
better get in then i s'pose
must be doing good, they expanding in south west sydney where all the lebbo's at so yeah …. lol #yalla
Tried once. Chicken is terribly dry. Sauce is way too salty. Everything is off.
tried it for the first time today, 1/2 deluxe meal. Not a fan, too much salt in everything, made me feel sick. First and last time for me
Use to be good. The moment the went to the franchising model QC went down the dumps and became like any other fast food outlet.
I always watch the display and wait for when the new freshly cooked chickens come out and ask for those ones so I don’t get a dry one that’s been sitting there overcooking. I always go in in person, if you order from a delivery service then you’ll likely receive a dry chicken. I don’t like how much salt they are putting on the chicken and in the garlic sauce these days, it’s too much. I agree with another poster that La Mono is now better than El Jannah because the quality of El Jannah has decline. I don’t have La Mono often though because I don’t live near Merrylands or Casula. I used to have El Jannah regularly but since the quality of their food has declined and their consistent price rises since Covid for their lower quality food, I have it maybe once a month now and only because it’s convenient.
I used the code at Pakenham (Vic) the other day. One thing, you must be registered for the code to work. I tried ordering as a 'guest' and the code kept on failing. I got the 1/4 Chicken Deluxe Meal for $12 something and was bloody happy.. Chicken is tiny but I got the leg piece and it wasn't dry. The chilli sauce was nice too.
The garlic sauce is their point of difference, not the chicken.
But a large garlic sauce from El Jannah to go with the $12.50 whole roast chicken from the supermarket.whats diufferent about the garlic saucwe ?
PE really trynna load the growth story before offloading this lol.
got a chicken that had 2 breast and 3 legs tonight
many burnt black parts .. that why they call it charcoal chicken?
Garlic dip (el jannah) and garlic sauce (kebab shop) are 2 different things iirc. Dip = thick and intense. Sauce = mild, thinner consistency. Correct me if im wrong. =]
I’m still yet to try El Jannah, does it live up to the hype?
