Hi all, looking at purchasing a mid-range laptop for general usage (web browsing, Word/Excel/Powerpoint, watching movies, light usage of data analysis applications (Python, R studio etc)).
I have found this which I like the look of, but unsure how the value compares to laptops of a similar price.
I like that its light weight, good battery, aluminium body, 400nit IPS screen (have heard that OLED isn't great for battery or in bright environments). I'm unsure about the snapdragon processor, and whether 16gb of ram is sufficient.
Wondering if anyone has general thoughts on this laptop, and whether there is a better alternative for a similar price. I was also considering this as an alternative, but not entirely sure what the jury is on Asus laptops.
Thanks!
If you don't mind refurbished Lenovo Outlet has some good deals currently. Lenovo Yoga Slim 7i (14", Gen 9) with a OLED 400 nits display (HDR P3) and Meteor Lake Core Ultra 5 processor + 16GB RAM for $943
But that's just one out of 93 examples, plenty to choose from
The main reason you'd buy a Snapdragon X laptop is for the extremely long battery life, like the minimum you'd expect is 15 hours and some hitting as high as 20 hours. However there might be a few legacy software and drivers (especially printer / scanner) that might not play well in Windows on ARM. The majority of x86 software works fine in Windows ARM through Prism emulation.
Intel Lunar Lake and AMD AI 300 series processors are also very power efficient, almost rivaling the battery endurance of ARM laptops. They pretty much make ARM laptops redundant.
