Based On Novels
Metro Exodus is inspired by the novels of Dmitry Glukhovsky, as the game continues Artyom's story. The gameplay blends deadly combat with stealth elements, so you'll have to explore carefully what's left of the world after the nuclear bombs and attempt to survive this inhospitable environment.

What Used To Be
The game is set in 2036 — a quarter-century after a nuclear war completely devastated the Earth we know now. Only a few thousand survivors still cling to life, living beneath the ruins of Moscow through the tunnels of the Metro. They've seen and lived through all sorts of horrors — from surviving the poison left over from the nuclear bombs and fighting mutated beasts to the horrors of a civil war.

    Well worth it for the DLC for the extra playtime and story experience. I had a lot more fun with Exodus than the preceding two games, going out into the open world.

  Imo this is a terrible game. Sold as a shooter, but it's more like a hide and seek game. When my gun jammed for the 4th time I uninstalled lol. It's a quite difficult game - you've been warned.

    You can play it by killing every moving soul - up to you. The only difference is the ending… You have three options. Won't say that this game is hard to beat - I'm not young and reaction a bit slow, plus I like to play a bit intoxicated by alcohol - so even more slow reaction - still managed to go through in 35 hours (Including all DLC's for Vladivostok and Novosibirsk stories).
    And yes - all played in Russian voice over for full imersion - blessing for a native speaker.
