There's also a Boosted Offer - Receive $50 towards your next purchase over $350 on LG.com! which 'should' stack with the above.
C4 42" went as low as $1200 earlier this year
$1000.
Yeah but no one stocks them anymore unfortunately, only refurbs or damaged available.
I use a C4 as a full-time monitor for a M4 Mac Mini and have a love-hate relationship with it. Here are the issues
- Colours have a pinkish hue
- TV constantly wants to update itself (I should just disable network access)
- I have managed to configure the mini to turn the TV on and off, but it's not nearly as seamless as a dedicated monitor. I occasionally have to use the remote to force it to turn on/off
- 4K isn't high enough when sitting 50cm away
- When HDR is enabled, the screen will occasionally go dark for a few seconds with no apparent reason. This is probably a MacOS thing
- Volume controls via MacOS with Hammerspoon barely works, probably my bad here and I CBF'd to troubleshoot
Positives:
- 120Hz FTW
- Colours are vibrant (other than the pinkish hue)
- Plenty bright enough
- Incredible when playing back video content
It's a shame 5K screens are such a ripoff, as I really do believe that's the best res for MacOS.
so will this be the same case with the C5?? anyone know?
Mostly i assume. C4 owner here.
Just dont connect the tv to the internet and you won't have to worry about updates.
I leave the remote on my desk to turn it on/off and it is no big deal.
Text and screen looks great, not sure about the other guy sitting 50cm away, I sit 90cm+ and it is perfect. You want a desk at least 70cm deep.
No pink hue, and it does auto dim when it doesnt detect movement for a few minutes (like reading a word doc), but there is a setting to turn that off. I never bothered with it because it is such a minor thing.
Fantastic screen for productivity, would recommend but hold for a better price unless you need it now
Yes! Who sits 50cm from a 42” screen? I’m around a metre from mine - that’s close to optimal.
I sat about 60cm from my prev 27” 4K monitors and the viewing angle was roughly the same. It’s hard, though not impossible, to see pixels at these distances. You def wouldn’t want to be closer at 4K.
Ideally I’d like 55” 8k to combine the equivalent of 4 x 4K 27” screens into 1, but options are pretty limited for now.
@Lps: Who you ask?
Apparently a guy who thinks 4k is low res, lol
Urgh yuck, what is this quality? 4k?
exactly. nothing wrong with resolution. it's the same pixel density as the old 27" imacs that were that same way for 10 years! we've all become so used to having high-ppi screens. just sit a bit further back.
I have a c9 65 attached to my PC and the problem of HDr exists there as well.
But the other issues I haven't encountered
How you get the monitor to turn on off ?
I use a monitor arm from nb to fix the height issue
I also use Mac mini M4 and recently had to replace my 42" C4 with C5 after dropping it by accident. The most annoying issue was definitely screen going to black for a few seconds randomly - and I am glad this seems to be resolved with C5, even though I also thought Apple is to blame here. HDMI CEC is still hit and miss though.
I love my 42" C4, got it for $1200 a few months ago, no regrets.
same its great, I use it with my windows PC.
i had a c2 since release, paid full price, very happy. use it as a monitor, no burn in and I abuse TF out of it.
going to get a c5 to replace the c2 and throw the c2 in the bedroom to leave on while I sleep after watching creepy sh!t on youtube
I'm dale kerrigan and that's me story

I’ve had a 42” C2 for 3 years and there’s nothing that makes me want to upgrade. I’d like 5k or 240hz at this point.
final follow up from me, got the 48" on the partner website for 1.6k just now got a delivery confirmation for tomorrow from dhl, not bad for free shipping
There's currently a 10% Cashrewards return on the already discounted price of $1695 direct from LG on selected OLED TVs (including this one) with free delivery and installation.
Should give you a final price of $1525.50, as long as the cash back tracks correctly.
Edit: It gets even better when you factor in delivery costs.
Appliance Central show as free delivery to some cities only. To Perth WA, it was showing as $64 delivery, taking the total cost to $1644.
So, for me at least, it would be a saving of $118.50 to go through LG using Cashrewards.
