Its probably more expensive than buying the game and DLC locally, but if you want everything included on a physical cart, no download required, I don't think this is available locally. I bought this a month back and can confirm all courses were included without download. Very tempted to buy another copy, just so I can have it sealed. Bound to be a Collector's item one day.

From Amazon:

-Race your friends in the definitive version of Mario Kart 8, only on Nintendo Switch!

-Race as every character on every track from the Wii U version, including DLC characters and tracks
Battle on new courses, like Urchin Underpass and Battle Stadium, or returning ones, such as GCN Luigi's Mansion and SNES Battle Course

-Carry two items at the same time

-Play your friends in local wireless multiplayer with up to 8 players

    That’s cool, not sure if it’s $143.50 cool…

    This is a worrying trend…

how many times has this game been released now? surely there's no way it'll ever be collectible

and the fact that this will take at least 20 years to pay dividends

You'd be lucky to get your money back. NES Super Mario Bros second hand is selling for under $40. Brand new in 1985 it was around $50AUD or $175 in today's money factoring in inflation.

@0 0 0: Plus the fact that you can get an old NES to play it - and the NES will actually work.

40 years from now, the chance of a complicated modern device like the Switch 2 still being alive is zero. The NAND will be long dead, the battery will be stuffed, the screen won't work, etc etc.

        • The Switch cartridge won’t even work in 20 years time.

          • @corgi-runner: Yes it will, you just have to blow on the contacts before inserting the cartridge to get it to work.

Cheaper to buy the game and pass from EB for an additional $37.50

Totally fair. I was a happy to pay a premium to have everything on the cart, from a game preservation point of view (especially with Nintendo the way they are).

    • Different products though.
This one has everything on the cart, so you will be able to continue playing it long after the servers shut down and can play it without downloading anything.

Is it really all on the cart though? Or just the base game on the cart with a download code?

    • +1

I loaded it on my Switch in Airplane mode, no previous installation and all the tracks were there.

    • Its all on the cart

I have similar ones like this like the Zelda Botw which has all the DLC on the car and the Pokemon Sword/Shield with the expansion pass

$120 CAD or around $135 AUD (free shipping) from VGP https://videogamesplus.ca/products/mario-kart-8-deluxe-with-…

I'd highly recommend VGP to anyone who wants physical games. Especially the limited print games from LRG and other companies.
And definitely for various "latest version" or "all on cart" switch games and such. Often way cheaper than anywhere else and free shipping for any order over 80 CAD.

It's where a lot of Australian resellers of games not as common in Australia get their stock.
And they pretty regularly have sales.

Hey thanks. That site is gold! I can get pokemon scarlet complete now.

    • That one mentions "downloadable content" for the extra tracks so probably not on the cart

      • "Includes Mario Kart 8 Deluxe with Booster Course Pass Wave 1-6 included on Cart"

Literally the first line in the description.

        • Dont think Id risk it as both side of packaging in images state downloadable content and DLC

          • @shreddov2: It's not in question mate. I know for a fact it includes the DLC on the cart. I've owned the game from them.
Please stop reading too into it.
