Motorola Edge 50 Neo 5G Australian Model Does Not Connect to 5G Network in India

Motorola Edge 50 Neo 5G Australian Model Does Not Connect to 5G Network in India.

I did some research before buying this and found out the 5G bands supported by the device are being used in India as well.
But, after using the device only realized that it does not connect to Jio 5G network in India.
I tried contacting Jio and Motorola support and no luck. Looks like they have some region-specific software update which fixes this issue. Unfortunately, it did not get applied to my model as I bought it here.
I tried a few of the steps listed online and none of it resolved the issue. I'm yet to try a full factory reset as I already have some data in it. Meanwhile thought of checking with experts here if you ever come across any such issues.

Thanks for your time.

Update:
No luck after factory reset as well.

  • Does it connect to any networks? Can you use a manual network selector?

    • It connects to the 4G network. Issue is with 5G. I tried to force it to 5G as well. No luck.

Probably JIO uses a non-standard implementation?

Does LTE 4G Data and VoLTE work?

Motorola is owned by Lenovo, a Chinese company.
India is not a fan of Chinese companies. A couple of years ago, many (millions) phones were IMEI blocked.
I had to root my Elephone and change the IMEI number to use the phone there.

Moto and other Chinese brands manufacture phones in India that are compliant.

    • Yes, 4G and VoLTE working.

        Oh! Not sure what then.

I suggest posting on XDA as well.

      • that's interesting, if it works well for VoLTE, may be jio uses a different frequency band?
