Cheeky RRP reference price. Amazon says 50% off RRP $19.99, however camels says its never been higher than $15. Probably price matching Gamesmen

      Isn't this explicitly illegal?

$19.99 is the RRP as per LEGO website

      https://www.lego.com/en-au/product/f1-driver-with-mclaren-ra…

Not sure why listing the RRP used by LEGO is cheeky?

      • Cause Amazon's only ever sold it at $15 according to camel history. Claiming something is 50% off when it's never been sold at that price is deceptive.

        https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/pricing/price-displays

Ways that a displayed price can be misleading
Stating the sale price is marked down from an earlier price when:
        - the items were not sold at that price for a reasonable period right before the sale started, or
        - Comparing the displayed price to a recommended retail price (RRP) that the product was never sold at, or wasn’t sold at for a reasonable period right before the sale started.

        • I’m pretty sure it’s standard for Amazon to always show a discount from the RRP. They would have been showing a % discount from RRP when it was $15 too.

Those stipulations from the ACCC are pretty stupid. To me it makes complete sense to always show a discount from RRP.

Showing a discount from the price you’ve had it set at for a reasonable period of time would just make things more confusing for consumers to compare.

Sometimes bureaucrats who don’t live in the real world set dumb rules and this is one of them.

If they were to make up an inflated RRP (which is maybe what these ACCC rules are aimed at) just to make a sale look good, that would be another story, but that’s not what they are doing.

        • Chemist warehouse basically does it all the time, can we report them?

          • @balu: If that's what they do, then yeah, they're also being cheeky too. ACCC arent likely to do anything to either company and they likely know it.

And if you’re Ferrari, works better than the actual car it’s based on
