  • I don't drink white but my old man likes a 'buttery' chardonnay - any idea if this is one of those?

    • +2

      I have an idea ;-)
Answer is, no. Some oak but not enough to be described as "buttery". Cheers! RD :-)

      • What percentage MLF is it? I thought that's the main cause of "buttery"?

        • You're right, MLF, oak, time on lees, all factors. it doesn’t taste like a buttery Chardonnay, more fresh and textural than creamy. Hope that helps! Cheers, RD

      • Appreciate the honest response.

        • +1

My pleasure. It can be a bit thin on the ground in some of the wine posts ;-)

    • Margaret River wineries normally produce "buttery" ones.

      • Yes, most regions produce both styles, it really depends on the style the producer is chasing. The bigger, buttery style is a style I personally enjoy but it's not really a broad commercial style and also diffiult to pursue that style at value price points. :-)

        • Personally, I prefer Chardonnay and Pinot Noir/Gris be very good or not be at all. There is nothing in between.

          • @vovka: I don't think you'll find anyone to disagree with you………..

  • Thanks RD, time to stock up for summer :)

    • @jackwilk yes, not long now. Stocked up our own fridge at home yesterday- blossoms are out, vineyards pruned - now we wait the rest of winter out for a month and off we go again. Enjoy! RD :-)
