Seems like an OK price from Woolies that you can return if faulty or change of mind.

I would VERY STRONGLY not recommend this. Non-stick coating is generally not safe to heat past ~260-280 degrees Celsius. BBQs and open flames can get much higher than that easily, and this can give off dangerous fumes / toxic bleed into food.

It looks like it's for Korean BBQ, as it has got oil dripping hole & drainage.
and people in Korea often cook korean bbq with a coating pan (non-stick) or some sort of bbq grill pan (like this).
As long as you manage temp not to go up to 260 degree + it might be similar experience with cooking coated non-stick frying pan.

Do the Korean BBQs use non-stick pans? Like genuine question, the ones I go to that have charcoal all seem to use cast iron

        • haha yeah, not all house hold have got those charcoal facilities :-).
Haven't seen any household that using cast iron for cooking thinly sliced pork belly.
Mostly just use non-stick coated pan for cooking sliced meat. or something like this grill pan with portable stove at the centre of table and cook.

if they are using grill pan like this, they put paper cup to below oil drainage area, as fatty meat has got so much oil coming out of it.
people prefer like this grill pan, as it drains oil/fat from meat and its crispier than cooking on coated non-stick pan.

If they use coated non-stick pan, then people often use kitchen paper to wipe the oil from the pan while they are cooking meat!

a bit different experience from how it's cooked in Australia.

        • @SWill possibly confusing a well-seasoned cast iron pan with non-stick (ptfe)?

          • @MattyD: ah.. well that's possible, but I personally have not seen any cast iron pans or cast iron pans with coating.
I have seen some thick pan with coating though, that could be it.
In my experience, light non-stick pans are often used for cooking meat for korean bbq or marinated meat, etc.

          • @MattyD: It's rare to see anyone own anything other than non-stick for at home in Korea, with the exception of cooking enthusiasts or professionals. Most households default to non-stick coated pans.

  • I have a bbq with flat plate and grill. What would I use this for?
I'm not sure the drain pipe will let it sit on my barbeque.

Just went to woolworths to check this out. Its too light and not suitable for serious bbq

    • Thx for sharing

  • Isn’t this for a butane gas burner that’s used in Korean bbq?

    • Same design or similar but we use much heavier one.

This is best for pork belly that releases much fat, the concave shape and the central drain removes the fat from the cooking surface.

Also worth nothing you can't use flat cooking surface e.g. induction as the bottom of this is not flat.

Good price as I probably paid triple from Korean grocer 😅
