Haha thanks! I came prepared… emotionally. š
Go easy on me š
42" too small for a bedroom TV?
42" was once considered too big, nowadays 65" is the standard. Depends how far you'll be sitting from the TV
We have 65" in our lounge room, that size would look ridiculous, tried a old 55" it was too big.
You really shouldnāt give advice about tv sizes. I had 65ā in my living room and I couldnāt wait to upgrade. I have 77ā now and next time Iāll go even bigger.
Thereās not a universe that a 55ā size tv is ātoo bigā@nikoris: Agree just bought 55 for the bedroom and wish i had gone 65. 77 is just big enough in the lounge. All depends on the room size. The bedroom wall is 4.5m and the lounge is over 6m so yeah plenty of room to go bigger.
@Gusper: Depends what you watch and what do you want.
Like with cars, any car will drive you to where you want, but expensive cars will do it better. Any TV will do but better TV has better colors, bigger TV has better details etc@nikoris: The speed of the response totally makes me think this is a bot now. 58 seconds doesnāt see m realistic for a human being.
I've had a 65 inch in my bedroom for 3 years. Wouldn't and didn't ever think it was too big. It matches the size of the room.
I also have a 65 inch OLED in my living room and it looks tiny in my open plan room.
I have a 42 inch OLED as a monitor at a desk and it's perfect sized for that use. Couldn't imagine using it as a bedroom TV. I'd be squinting trying to figure out what's happening.
lol, weāve been watching 98ā for a while now and even that is starting to look small. 65ā is like a postage stamp. Our sofaās are around 3.2m from the screen - probably a bit far. Itās frustrating how consumers adjust, it looked insane when it first arrived.
42" was once considered too big, nowadays 65"
It was never considered 'too big', maybe of the biggest you could get. We're talking modern era TVs of course.
Depends on what you're used to. 42" is definitely on the small side for TVs, so you'll want to sit as close as possible to it, e.g. position it right at the end of your bed using a TV floor stand.
A lot of people use 42" TVs as oversized monitors for their PCs, so they use it at closer viewing distances of around 80cm or so.
Haven't had a Tv in the bed room for years last one was a 32"
In that case I'm sure you'll find the 42" is perfectly fine. Enjoy!
Yes, this is more like a kitchen TV or a monitor
lol must have a big kitchen
I actually got the 42" as a monitorāfor entertainment, light programming, and documents. Text isnāt as sharp as a true monitor (thereās a bit of fringing), but itās totally usable for my needs.
Yeah, some folks say 42" is too small for a TV or too big for a monitorābut I think it depends on your setup. For me, itās a sweet spot.
As for burn-in (when desktop use only), these newer WOLEDs are much improved. Iām not too worried. And if youāre into gaming, these panels are amazing! You might also want to check out the Samsung S90F OLEDāanother solid option. š
For bedroom TV may be try to start with 48 inch. Hope it helps.
thanks
I had a 40" TV as a monitor 15 years ago, i was the cool kid in the hood.
Tell me more about the text. Have you switched it to PC mode and 4:4:4 chroma?
Works great at as a monitor, I use a C2 as a daily driver for work/personal and haven't noticed any burn in and it's probably been about 2 years?
Make sure you change source to PC in Home Dashboard, make sure 4:4:4 and game optimiser are enabled, and then run Windows' ClearType utility. I don't notice any fringing anymore. Text looks great from 90cm away. You have to get real close to notice anything.
Game text is still a little fringy as ClearType doesn't work with games, but desktop use is near-perfect.
Way too small. Unless you're Harry Potter and live in a broom closet.
have a 77" in a small lounge room (wall mounted) and tbh its too small
a 42" C2 is my current PC monitor, also too small. 4k resolution makes size applications a lot better now
id say 55" for bedroom would be minimum in 2025
Wow thats cheap. B5 is a lower tier than C5. Butbidk the difference
That model is cheaper at Appliance Central, $1350:
https://www.appliancecentral.com.au/oled48b5psa-lg-48-inch-oā¦It's the "budget" line of LG OLEDs though, so not quite as good as the C5 series which is the mid-range tier.
As far as I can tell the C5 has significantly higher brightness and a faster processor. The B5 isn't bad, just not as good as the C5:
https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/compare/lg-c5-oled-vs-lg-b5-ā¦I picked up a 48 B5 for the bedroom because it is a significantly darker room and it looks fantastic. For reference I have a C5 in the living room which is far brighter and the B5 is plenty bright in comparison.
I would mainly use in the dark at night.
Can you move the legs in closer on it?The legs are almost always fixed (screwed into place). You can always buy a VESA-compatible mount or TV floor stand though.
No the legs canāt be relocated, mine is wall mounted, however would imagine thereās some sort of vesa stand for it though to make it more like a monitor.
This is a good size for a bathroom TV
Inky blacks for stinky browns.
$1478 at TGG in the price check button.
I'm using last year's C4 as a monitor and it's fantastic
Ive been close to making this happen for ages now.
Do you mind telling me if you ever wish it was curved? I wonder if that size as a monitor iād want it slightly curved (and am very annoyed I missed the LG Flex deal the other day).
I am very anti curved screen guy. I had one once and just couldn't deal with it. That's just a me thing I suppose.
42 inch flat screen is a big palette in your face, but I love it that way. I suppose I turn my head a bit to look at the edges, but I'm cool with that.
And the gloss screen is a bonus.
I upgraded from a 32 inch 4k/144hz IPS monitor and it was a GIANT upgrade.
I have the 42 C4 as a monitor because it's not curved…
LG TV's have built-in features to prevent screen burn. They've improved drastically from 2017 to now tbh
I had to weigh this up when I got the C4 to use as a PC monitor, but I have followed all the tips to help prevent and all that.
But the thing was, I realised how quickly I churn through monitors, and I realised it's about a three year use on average for me. Some die, some I upgrade, some I just use for a different purpose.
So that reduces the potential impact of burn in. For when it happens which I suppose it will someday
its 2025 grandpa
My Lg C2 42 inch I use as monitor is still going strong, no burn in 11k hours. The real Beware is the 1-year warranty lol.
Just got the 48" and using it as a monitor
It's amazing I thought it would be too big but its very comfortable for meWorth mentioning I moved from a 42. So I had probably already adjusted
Howās the text for you?
crystal!
Are you using any scaling? i have to use 1.5 times on my 43.
yep same
Even at 48 inches? Might need to go to 55 to get 1:1 then.
Nice TV, I was wanting to buy this but I am broke at the moment.
I checked the education store and it's not listed on there but if you login to your education store email and add in /partner/ after /au/ on their products it will pop up for $1349.
https://www.lg.com/au/partners/tv-soundbars/oled-evo-tv/oledā¦
I've never used the store yet but still have a $50 welcome code.
This will bring the price down to:
$1,299.10 with free shipping.
There is also 7% Shopback on the LG store, which would be on top of the $1299
what do you guys do with old T.Vs that are in great condition when you get a New one? it's so hard to sell on FB Marketplace
cash converters.
Just put it on your nature strip with a big "fully working" label, and the remote taped to the stand.
Welcome and thank you for the post.
(They didn't say "be gentle" it's open season, Get em fellas!)
