I don't have an issue with the amount of screws. The quality is pretty poor in my opinion. I bought a couple of shoes racks, and one of them came with a broken inner shelf, and the side panels felt they were going to break as I was screwing them together. I thought of going back to the store to return it, but I also thought I would just spend more money returning them than just trying to make it work at home. Once put together they don't seem that flimsy. Not sure I would buy Kmart furniture again.
I would say these furniture are for people who want something temporary like rentals or for now situations. For those purposes it's the best item money can buy.

For rentals, it's better to get more solid to save the hustle later unless don't bother. The renting money is enough to cover the better quality one.
Comes with one page of instructions. Apparently, they assume you have an engineering degree.
I don't think even engineers can figure out their.. uhh.. 'instructions'…
At least that engineer can figure out after like 3 hours.

I got that Atlas bookshelf last week for $60 and thought it was a steal. Not the best quality, but really good for $60. At $45, if you need a cheap bookcase, it's a no brainer.

The kmart furnture is pretty frustrating. Its incredibly cheap especially at discount, and once its built its decent enough, but my god the amount of screws, nuts and bolts needed to put them together is absurd. Obviosly its needed as the quality isnt there, but i would estimate that each furniture piece i have bought from there has at a minimum 3x the amount pieces as an ikea item.
