It's just cosmetics, but for a few extra dollars I'd say yeah if you wanna look like a bad guy

Cause you can't really be a bad guy, there's "mean choices" and a slightly different ending, but overall you're pretty limited in what you can do
@R3STRIKT3D: Damn! When I got sorted into Slytherin, I only signed up on one condition: I’d get to be the bad guy, no questions asked. That means tripping toddlers in the hallway, turning hopeless romantics into a fox and a rabbit just for laughs, and, my most unforgivable offense, posting OzBargain deals without listing shipping costs.
It was a bit of a slog but I managed to finish this game. The only thing that kept me going was the dark arts storyline. My partner on the other hand, couldn't stop playing it and was addicted for weeks and weeks. She is a hardcore Harry Potter fan; so in my personal opinion - it's a solid game by itself, but if you're a fan of the Harry Potter universe and lore you'll find it much, much more appealing and immersive.
