I'd avoid this seller. My partner and I bought scooters from him—both had front wheels that wouldn’t hold pressure. A scooter shop said the wheels were glued to the rims and couldn’t be repaired.

The seller refused a refund, blamed us, and only offered part of our money back after charging for repairs and shipping. In the end, we got $240 out of the $499 we paid.

If your scooters faulty, don’t expect any warranty or support. Check the store reviews—you're on your own if something goes wrong.

We’re experiencing the exact same issue with the same model we bought from a seller on ebay (saw it in OzBargain) on June. No matter how much we inflate the front wheel, it keeps deflating, and the orange warning light appears on the screen. We will try to resolve the issue by contacting the seller via eBay.

If others are having the same problem, it would be great if they could share how they dealt with it. Maybe we can help each other out.

      • +3

No idea if these are some special tyre/rim combo, but have you tried injecting some tubeless tyre sealant into the rims? e.g. just the standard bike tyre sealant. "Glued to the rims" sounds a bit like shoddy rim sealant, which when left in storage for long periods generally hardens and cracks.

      • Same boat here, although mine will hold pressure for a day or two and as I only use it maybe once a week I am not massively inconvenienced. They didn't reply to my email either.

The orange warning light isn't an indication your tyre is deflated though, it's a reminder to check your tyre which you set the reminder for in the app.

      • I’ve experienced the exact same issue, and the company/ support guy Daniel Wang is refusing to provide a refund or any compensation. If it’s okay with you, I’ll message you so we can raise this case with Consumer Affairs together—this level of service from the merchant is completely unacceptable.

Panmi sounds more like a name for a shady massage parlor. In which case, the customer pays extra and gets screwed. Thanks for the warning. Will steer clear of Panmi. Pun intended

Not buying it after reading your experience! Thanks for sharing!!

    • +1

Did they request for an inspection through a video call? Then someone instructed (ordered) you to do this and that. Then they asked you to take it to one of their repair shops to inspect further.

      • +1

We haven't contacted the seller yet, will do tomorrow and share any updates here. Thank you for sharing your experience, I hope they will call and help us too…

Oh wow, i thought we are the only unlucky ones. Same issue we are experiencing with the front wheels not sealing on the reem/beeds. Panmi sent us the replacement front assembly (tyre+motor) + $80 repair voucher. Called a few place up and it cost over $160 to do in a shop. Can't DIY because there is foam in the scooter frame which is quite challenging to remove.

Decided to go solid tubeless instead. It is either a desgn issue or the stock is so old that the tyre just lost its properies

      • How did you contact them. I emailed and got no reply.

Agreed Panmi is a rubbish company, with terrible service. Wouldn't touch a deal through that company.

Why is this vendor not get banned from here? Can someone action this?

      • +8

I think vendors that have poor reviews should be banned. Not really a bargain if post-sale service is non-existent

        • It should at least be noted. Give them a tag automatically for all new posts.

I have an AMG Limited Edition from couple years back, Xiaomi arguably has the worst wheel design ever in existence in terms of repairability. Even obtaining a replacement from China directly through a mate was extremely painful and it was still a pita to replace/repair.

Another mate who worked at a scooter servicing shop also said that majority of scooter shops refuse touching Xiaomi scooters because the wheels are simply an abomination. Even with the right tools you are very likely to puncture the tubes again during the replacement.

    • +4

Completely agree with this, replacing a flat tube is almost impossible especially for the front wheel (a complete abomination of a design). I recommend replacing the tyres with tubeless ones (I.e pure thick rubber tyres that don’t contain tubes). Almost destroyed mine trying to replace the front tyre, I fitted the tubeless ones so I don’t have to replace them ever again. Boiling and stretching the tubeless tyres on is tough initially but worthwhile in the long term.

      • +1

Don't these come with "10” tubeless tyre", as advertised?

        • That's a good point. They actually are. Which makes it even harder to understand why they just deflate withiout any reason.

          • @Siksiksiksik: Well, these are tubeless, but still pneumatic. Probably that is why :)

  • -1

Solid tyre swap all the way, it makes for a bumpier ride and they are not easy at all to install, but, they last for years.

I’m. It sure about these exact models but the previous Mi scooters could practically be rebuilt from Aliexpress parts for not much money.

If when my battery reaches a point where it’s unuseable I can replace for under $100

    • Got a link for a battery that's compatible with the factory charger that won't burn my house down?

      • More of a DYOR situation, especially without knowing your model, nearly all of them have built in bms now, it’s been nearly a decade since explosive hoverboards hit the scene.

Generally it’s best to open you device and check the plug ends for your power, charging and control interfaces.

        • It's one of the Xiaomi 1S scooters from around 2019. Appreciate any help!

I was going to refrain from expressing my experience with Panmi given it was back in 2023, but given the above replies…
I had a robot vacuum cleaner that needed warranty repairs. They fought me on refunding me the postage fees for it, sent me someone else's item (breaching their privacy), then lost mine. Then they ghosted me, even after having lodged a consumer affairs complaint.

Absolutely shocking experience, can't believe they're still in business.

    • +4

Yep this company is shocking for warranty and customer service. Vacuumgate saga.

    • +1

They charged me for something that was very obviously a warranty issue

      • $2500 max fine is not bad if you can go 100+kmph in a 59 zone lol

        • -1

          There's a bit more complexity to it….
If you have a motor vehicle licence, it can be suspended for various offences committed while riding a non conventional motor vehicle….ie bicycles, scooters etc
I knew someone a couple of decades ago that had lost his licence, and was riding a pushy back from the pub while pissed.
He ran smack into a copper sitting down with a radar set….
He ended up having his driver's licence suspended for an extra period.
          (SA)

          • @rooster7777: I feel like those who would go that fast would also evade cops easily since they can just dart off into a park etc

            • @donman92: well… if they evade cops then the maximum amount of fines is irrelevant.
If however their evasion is unsuccessful then the ramifications would be more than "not bad".

      • thanks. it's time to get one!

for over 16 year olds in SA… dunno what the rest of the country restrictions are.

the weird thing is that ebicycles must be speed limited to 25kph for road use, with a max 250W motors…. but not so for scooters (at least in SA) according to the SA govt site someone quoted above… where there is a speed limit for scooters, but no restriction on speed capability or motor power.

      • ebicycles

        *Electric Motorbikes

        • +2

          sorry…. I don't understand your meaning.
but guessing that you're suggesting the two are the same….
I'll state that in SA ebicycles are power and speed restricted and don't require rego, and electric motorbikes are in the same category as ICE motorbikes…. no power or speed capability restrictions, and do require rego.

  • I will wait for version 5 or an upgraded version. Really can't go far with speed 25 and it's weak that struggles to move on low battery.

    • Soon…

  • -1

Here in the Democratic People's Republic of Victoria, maximum allowed speed of an e-scooter is 25kph, but maximum legal travelling speed is 20kph. Makes perfect sense!
Still nowhere near 142kph though so doesn't really matter…

    * Autocorrect made that 'lethal'. Looks like autocorrect algorithms are improving. 😉

@Clear what's your affiliation or relationship with Panmi?

    • +2

      Very interesting question

    • +3

I have 0 contact with the owner of Panmi and didn't get the code off them. So no affiliation at all.

It's very easy to think that there is some association given the bad feedback, but if you look at the previous deal there's none of that feedback you're seeing at the top of the deal. Had they shared that on the original post perhaps I wouldn't have shared this deal. As far as I knew it was a popular scooter with no faults.

Also whoever did the affiliate/referral report is silly. That's for if there are affiliate links in the deal and there are none here 🤣

      • +3

After my experience with a robot vac, i try to make sure everyone knows about Panmi before buying. I have definitely posted the same warnings in previous deals.

They are just a drop shipper who don't respond to enails, phone calls or ACCC complaints.

It isn't worth it. No matter how much cheaper.

        • The issues with this scooter specifically. No mention in the last deal.

    • I’ve experienced the exact same issue, and the company/ support guy Daniel Wang is refusing to provide a refund or any compensation. If it’s okay with you, I’ll message you so we can raise this case with Consumer Affairs together—this level of service from the merchant is completely unacceptable.

Considering multiple comments above about terrible customer service from Panmi and also issues with the wheels and repairability of Xiaomi scooters I’m going to have to neg the deal.

      • She hasn't worked at Panmi for over a year.

        • Ok. Will report to the mods to get her tag removed.

          Edit: Done.

    • +1

I've added a warning to the deal too. Before anyone asks "why don't you remove the deal", the mods won't allow it. If I expire the deal they'll remove the expiry too since the code is still active.
