7th gen cpu…company start selling 11th gen refurbished now for around the same price or less https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/917583

    e-waste

    Not compatible with Windows 11.

I don't understand why you would promote this laptop, you have a Latitude with 16GB RAM and 8th Gen Core i5 for $290 And assuming you offer a 1 year warranty, that's a better value item

It is Win 11 pro installed

      • +1

6gen CPU isnt Windows 11 Supported
they are only meant to go to Windows 10 and as you know Windows 10 EOL is here (ubnless you pay, something like $60 USD to have one year?)

      • +1

Which you needed to use a third-party workaround to install.

Holy wow, this is so bad. I can’t believe rep thought this would fly here.

Dual core machine, doesn't officially support Windows 11. Will almost definitely be unable to get feature updates in the future. Misleading to advertise otherwise.

  • This is just ewaste

  • Latitude 7490 was the best portable laptop ever made. 7480 isn't far off. but this was ages ago. this is just e-waste at this stage

  • +4

Negging due to workaround being used to install Win11 on non-officially supported hardware. It's disingenuous.

  • Title: Dell Latitude 7480 Laptop: Intel i5-7200u
Description: Equipped with an Intel Core i5-6300U

Rep can't even copy & paste right.

And wow, what an insanely bad price for a laptop with 6th / 7th gen CPU.

Claiming a 1-year warranty in the deal description is dishonest IMO…

    Buried in their policies:
Battery and Charger: Covered under a 1-month warranty only

  • i installed win11 (rufus) on my own i5-7200u machine a few days ago. it does not like it one bit with a lot of hanging and unresponsiveness not present in win10. very sad because for a few minutes i thought i'd be able to squeeze at least a year or two more out of it lol

You can still use Windows 10 until the end of the official support date which is either October 2025 or October 2026 via the Extended Security Updates program.

The only small catch for ESU is that you have to either spend 1000 Microsoft Rewards points or opt into Windows Backup.

Other free alternative is to go with good old Linux. Chrome OS Flex, Ubuntu, Mint, Zorin OS, et cetera. I personally went with Fyde OS for one of my machines as it's basically a fork of Chrome OS but has been de-Googled.
