I've been on an old Vodafone postpaid plan called “No Plans” since around 2010. It's a PAYG setup where I only pay for what I use — perfect for me as I mostly use Wi-Fi at home and rarely make calls. Every month, my bill is under $10.
Today I received this email from Vodafone:
"We're simplifying our product range and because of this, we’ll be phasing out most of our older Mobile Postpaid plans and moving you to another Vodafone Plan from 8th September.
With this change your current ‘No Plans plan’ is no longer available, and we will be moving you to a new month-to-month plan that will have a $10 monthly plan fee with calling and data inclusions.
Please note that Pay As You Go International Calling rates may also be updated.
To support you with this transition to your new plan you will receive a $5 credit for the first 12 months."
So essentially they’re moving me to a $10/month plan with 1GB data and unlimited calls — not bad, but I’m still paying more than I used to.
Is anyone else still on one of these ancient Vodafone plans and got the same email?
Also, are there any decent sub-$10/month options out there right now? I know about Amaysim and ALDI Mobile’s 365-day PAYG plans — any others I should look into?
Trying to decide whether to stay with Vodafone or finally jump ship.
Got a similar notice last year for the 365 day prepaid plan. $20 got me through the whole year.
That's going to end soon - was thinking of maybe Kogan after this, so that I'd get some data for a change.
