The latest yugioh booster box is already heavily discounted on Amazon. Not sure why! At $3 a pack it should be a fun rip regardless!
Other stores have it around $100-$125.

Can someone enlight me why people purchase these cards?
Nostalgia, chances at getting rare cards to resell, new cards can be really good in the game (competitiveness), the cards in the latest released boxes can be worth a lot of money if you pull them and sell them quickly before they go down in price.

Yeah somewhat! Pokemon is a lot bigger, but Yu Gi Oh is still pretty large as well.
@TheTequila: But with yugioh the price of a card usually depends on how good the card is in the "meta" so with yugioh collecting cards is much easier
They have chase cards in yugioh beyond normal secret rares. You can get most of the secret rares in a different rarity called starlight rare, and those cards are worth a bomb and look really nice.
Easiest purchase. Booster boxes sub $100. Count me in.
