nice advert … seriously there isnt even a price set yet. Following Nvidia with their RRP vs actual sales price.

        at this price point.

        What price point?

          • @ozpk: just explaining - this is paying $10 for a $50 voucher to pay the remainder at a totally unknown price

  • +3

$10 for $50 off right… whats the actual price??

  • +2

Pay $10 to psychologically lock you in 😂😂😂 Scamker

      • No, because I'm pretty sure I'll be spending those Ultimate and Celebration and Amazon gift cards where I know the value I'm paying the discount for. Whereas with this, you don't even know what it'll cost.

  • So whats the actual price?

    More like (w)Anker

Am I blind or are there no specs?
How many ports? What type? What power do the ports supply?

  • +4

Why is this a deal? what is the price for this? please close this post.

  • Really depends on the price, if it's vastly inflated saving $40 probably means nothing. I wouldn't lock myself in if I was price conscious.

  • +3

Looks like it's actually available in the US of A for $400 USD.
    https://www.anker.com/products/a83b5-anker-prime-thunderbolt…

Presumably it'll be around $600 AUD at launch?

  • +3

Apparently it's 400USD, probably 700aud+ when it gets here. They can charge whatever for being the only TB5 dock on the market. Gotta be a tax write off at this price and pretty cool specs if have TB5 compatible device.

Will be typical Anker - overpriced products.

    • Or there'll be a recall for it

  • Copying Samsung with their pay $10 for a $100 voucher to use on the not yet released Galaxy XY

  • So, their TB4 dock is RRP $799. But reduced to 'only' $399.

I cannot imagine the TB5 costing any less.

The Thunderbolt 5 specs are impressive (2 x 8k displays, 80 Gbps bi-directional, 140W power delivery), but the actual use case scenario is very narrow. Perhaps some fairly high level video production.

    • The scenario will be allowing you to game at 4k 240hz whilst still keeping a clean TB cable setup with zero drawbacks.

      • As I said, very narrow use case. Only a handful of Core Ultra 9 / RTX 5090 laptops, costing up to $9k, actually have TB5 at present.

I suppose that cohort of wealthy gamers who absolutely require that very last Hertz (otherwise they'll cry on their mommy's shoulder) won't need to worry about the so-far unannounced RRP cost of this dock.

  • Not a deal, can't even see the full price.

  • this wont be here long

  • A fool and his money and quickly parted.

  • i know it is legal….but it shouldn't be. You shouldn't be allowed to offer a discount/voucher off of a product without the RRP being mentioned….making you pay for said discount just makes this evil.

  • This has to be the worst deal I've ever seen.

Hi Mr Customer. Give us $10 and we'll give you $40 to buy something that may be out of your price range once we decide to release the RRP. If it's too expensive for you though, don't worry, we'll keep the $10.

We thank you in advance for the $10 that we duped you into sending us, cheers.

  • Sounds like a scam.
