It's not. TSW has its own game client launcher and doesn't use Origin at all
Although.. They might try to make you use Origin to download the game but you could just download the TSW Download Manager from here: http://cdn.funcom.com/tsw/live/setup.exe
If you're worried about using a credit card through a VPN, the last time I purchased from the US Origin store you were able to disable the VPN on the billing info page and proceed through the rest of the checkout process without the proxy.
I was logged into my origin account (not sure if that makes a difference?) and entered all of my correct billing info but didn't enter the postcode, just left the zip code field blank (was told to leave it blank by a friend from the UK that helped me with the process).
My PayPal payment failed, I assume due to the billing address Origin wants (US) being different from my PayPal one (AU).
I can give it another go without the postcode, but I'm pretty sure that's a field it won't let me leave empty.
(BTW: I'm using the TunnelBear proxy on my iPad)
