2k, 3mp , built in light and siren, support for Ethernet. Looks great to me for $39

    • Has anyone tried to integrate this with Home Assistant and trigger the siren when needed?

      • +11

Yes, turn on notification for Tapo, then do the same in Google Home.

What a day when you share tech tips with Marques

        • I didn't know MKBHD was from QLD

  • Would be nice if it supported poe

  • Can I put this outside my bedroom window?

    • Maybe not ideal as reflections may affect visibility especially if using IR for night vision

    • -6

As long as CCP can pan and tilt for the view inside, sure 🤣

      • +4

My ccp case officer: boss, he’s doing the Risky Business Dance scene again and this time shirtless…. Can I just .. turn off the feed, please bro.

    • Maybe look for something to cover it to protect from the weather. I suspect they might try and void the warranty if they knew you installed it outside.

    • +1

I can confirm this camera is terrible at night next to a window. The glare consumes the picture.

      • +2

Turn off the IR/Night Mode to stop the reflection on the window. It will improve things a little bit.

        • +1

If going down that route, just get an old mobile and add Alfred cam app and you are good to go.

I had this same scenario setup by a window looking outside. Even caught an intruder on it tapping on the window seemingly puzzled at why a phone was sitting on the window shelf.

        • Yeah I did try that but didn’t help.

      • Turn off the LED

  • Use outdoor?

    • Under cover should be fine

      • +1

Just beware of frost and moisture, I would only consider a fixed camera for the outdoors, even under cover. (Unless it's designed for the outdoors, obviously)

  • Can this go into Home Assistant (Tapo) / HomeKit with a Raspberry Pi?

    • I intergrated the C211 this weekend. Cant see it being any different. The only thing that cought me out was I made the password for tapo account the same as the camera account.

Seeing 3 individual units for $72.75 delivered ($24.25 each). Not sure how but screenshot linked. Ordered as I have a relative looking for baby monitor.

    • Damn missed out!

it is not adding 15% for 3 items anymore

      Same here

i got the black version of these after getting a C220 which I was impressed by.

the AI is obviously not as good and only detects motion and people. the next model up does pets (animals) and vehicles (although magpies regularly are labelled people).

overall good and cheap for an online camera with local storage.

  • I have the C210.. use it with synology to do alerts. So I guess this one would be similar if you want to use synology.

    • Is this better?

  • I will be primarily using this in the garage for monitoring. How is the night vision of humans in dark? Can you make out face?

    • +3

A cheap $8 Kmart hoodie will stop any face recognition I found out.

    • +1

I can see my black and white cats very well in the dark with this

  • This works well enough with home assistant or also your own self host NVR like frigate.

  • How the heck do I get 3 for $87.75???

    • +1

      You don't. Game over.

      • S'alright. Just grabbed one, and only needed one.

  • Bought 6.

  • Damn, OOS

  • Back in stock @ $39 no discount for multiple. I was able to add 10 to cart. Got mine and set it up last Saturday. Good value for this price.

(sorry OP link 64bucks you need the Harris tech for the 39 deal)
