  • @Narellan2025, how does the knurled handle work for flow and temperature control?

    • +7

      Not very well

    • +1

The Elvire CAEL0026GM6A progressive basin mixer uses what's called progressive cartridge technology, meaning that both flow and temperature are controlled sequentially through a single-handle mechanism—no separate knobs for hot and cold. Here's how it works:

Flow control: When you first operate the handle, turning it up from the off position, it gradually increases the water flow.

Temperature control: As you continue to turn the handle further, the cartridge blends hot and cold water progressively to reach your desired temperature.

This design offers a streamlined, single-motion operation—turn to start flow, and push further for warmth. It delivers precise control over both water volume and temperature, in one progressive movement

Does that mean you can't have cold high flow/ hot low flow?

        • I have a shower with one mixer , exactly what it means if its the same

        • yes.

Can I ask, what is the cost price, just of this one item?

Because I am trying to work out if this item is just inflated to sell at this price?

Have you sold any at the higher price?

    • +2

Thanks for your comment. The RRP is set by Caroma, currently this product is on huge clearance as they want to clear their warehouse and is tagged as "surplus stock".

      • Yes. It looks like it is regularly sold everywhere for $500+ recently so it does look like a real deal.

    • +2

Yes we have sold at the RRP with no discounts in the past. You may notice some retailers still selling at the RRP as they have no stock to clear

  • +1

Sold to builders at RRP with a cost plus 20% agreement

  • @Narellan2025 what's the manufacturers warranty ?

  • I got item missing from my order..How could it be?

    • Hi, please message me your order number, I will get someone to get in touch with you to resolve your issue. Thanks

Missing the CAROMA Contura Wall Top Assemblies Tap Chrome × 1

        • That's annoying, have they sorted it out yet?

          • @WatchNerd: They said no stock. But no email or phone call regarding this until I found out and email them and ask.

  • How serviceable the part compare to normal tap.

  • Any in Brushed Gold?

  • thanks just bought 3 for our new build.

i assume this is standard installation tapware?

Ozbargainers - brace for a wave of tap deals as standards change concerning the led content in taps installed in Oz from 1st May 2026

    https://www.abcb.gov.au/news/2023/update-advice-new-lead-req…

TLDR: Will be illegal to install many taps currently for sale now post 1.5.2026

    • Huh, hadn't heard of this. Can confirm looking at Bunnings site now, some of the taps say 'lead free'

  • +9

This item has a very high return rate due to engineering defect. I would clearly aaway from this design.

    GWA internal Sydney Prestons.

    • uhm i just bought 3 - where are you getting this information from?

      • -2

Looks ugly and stupid. WTF would pay RRP for this?

        • +5

wife has been badgering me to get this knurled knob taps and this was a good price for a reputable brand. no need to be so judgmental, taste is all but subjective. nobody would pay rrp, but $99? it's a steal.

seems like another sweeping comment, a downvoter with no basis for his claims.

  • +1

Caroma is terrible since going offshore.

    • +2

I had problems with my Caroma tap. But their customer service is excellent and they quickly sent me a replacement, no questions asked.

  • +1

Have one of these. It is a good looking, quality tap but the progressive cartridge thing isn't as good individual control. It's in our second, less-used bathroom so it just sits there looking pretty. You can replace the knob with a wooden one to match vibes if you have a wooden touches. Keep in mind that it's rather short so if you have a sink with a rim the gap to wash hands may be quite small.

    • thanks for your post - i just bought 3 of these from this sale but the seller is not giving me a lot confidence with their responses or lack thereof.

were these installed as part of your house build or did you install them yourselves?

mine will be installed in the vanity for guest bathrooms so like yours, won't be used as frequently as say the master ensuite. Can you speak to whether this diagram is accurate to the way the caroma mixers function?

      https://www.highgrovebathrooms.com.au/media/catalog/product/…
(does the caroma one click at cold water full pressure?)

also i can't seem to find a real life photo of this tap installed on a vanity sink? would you be able to take a snapshot of yours and share it? I'd like to have an idea of the clearance you talked about.

      Thanks.

      • +1

I’ll take a pic when I get home this week. The diagram that was supplied was pretty straight forward to install. I did it myself. It was very simple from memory.

  • thanks op, but, how much does it cost for tradies to install these to my bathroom?

    • Thats FULL RRP

      • +1

Depending on the tradie, it could be 2x RRP..

        • is it easy to DIY instead?

  • @Narellan2025

With all these new information coming to light, how do we organise a refund?

I'm still keen on the product if you can comment on the engineering defect claims that were made please.

    • Thought you dismissed it as a sweeping comment with no basis for the claims

      • Heh? As such i'm trying to ascertain with the vendor re the engineering defects as you can see. If he/she can't, then a refund is on the cards.

  • Hi @Narellan2025. I put in an order on 10/08/2025 but didn’t get an order confirmation and my credit card was charged. Can you please look into this for me?

    Thanks.

    • Hi, can you please email us with your order number? We will look into it for you. Thanks

      • Didn’t get confirmation email so no order number.
