Quick Question Re Afterpay Day

I'm looking to buy the parts for a PC, and am putting a bit of it on Afterpay. I was about to order the parts, but realised I might be able to benefit from Afterpay Day. It's quite rare for PC part retailers such as Scorptec and Centrecom to have partner sales, as I imagine they run at pretty thin margins, so I'm not really holding out hope for that.

Is there any history of, during Afterpay Day(s), offering incentives such as '$xx off $xx spend when you use Afterpay at checkout'? If so, I'm willing to wait and see if that's something that becomes available this time around. If not, I'll just order em now.

Cheers.

Wasn't after advice, but thanks for the tip.

  • To answer your question, yes there have been various incentives in the past but that does not mean that will 100% happen again this time, or what form it might take.

Afterpay Day is literally this week, and already on for certain retailers. Unless you need the parts tomorrow eg for work or you'll lose your job, then why not wait and see for yourself. What's the worst that could happen? It's not like the parts that you are after are going to go up in price.

    Do you have Afterpay Plus?

    • No reason I can't wait, mate. Just impatient. If I can get it now, I will haha

I've got Afterpay Plus just for this month, yeah. The retailer I'm getting the parts from doesn't support Afterpay, but paying for a month is still cheaper than buying elsewhere.

      • Well you're singing from your own hymn book then.

Some people can't afford to wait, and are willing to pay the extra to get it now.

If you're impatient and can't wait, then just get it. No one here can definitively tell you 100% AP will run a specific promo this year despite previous marketing campaign patterns because of a multitude of reasons including significant recent changes in the BNPL landscape, increased regulatory scrutiny affecting their bottom line, restructuring and ownership changes with AP itself and various retail economic markers.

If you have AP plus and are in a metro area eg Sydney, then arm yourself with info of the best prices for each of your parts from various retailers and consider hitting somewhere like technocity with the combined total and find a shop to beat that total amount.

        • Not asking for a definitive answer, I'm just asking if there is any history. Consistent history implies a decent chance for a repeat this year. No history, in my eyes, makes it inherently less likely. I'm not asking for an analysis based on the current state of their business model, I'm just asking for history.

I've got Afterpay Plus, I'm in Brisbane. I've found the cheapest place to get the parts, and am on my way to buy em. I suppose I am willing to pay a little extra out of impatience.

    Do you mean AfterYay?

It'll be up to the retailer but I doubt many would offer further incentives. Afterpay is already taking 6% from the merchant, taking an even bigger chunk out of their margin is unlikely IMO.
