Damn the prices on high refresh rate IPS monitors has really gone down.

    • +5

Paid $500 in 2020 and that was a cracker of a price at the time.

      • Paid $700 something for an Asus 2k 165hz back in 2018, but I think it was a great IPS/10-bit panel though.

          Paid $944 for Acer Predator XB270HU (UM.HB0SA.003) 27" G-Sync IPS 144Hz in December 2015.

It was a sweet eBay coupon deal with $104.90 off.

Still using it as my main monitor coming up on 10yrs later :) only "issue" is last year I changed to an AMD graphics card and that can only run the screen at 120Hz.

Crazy how affordable they are now. I'm waiting for a good 34" ultrawide 1440p monitor to come up on sale.

      • Same,

For me that's the sweet spot in monitors. No point in 4k I reckon

    • Tell me about it. I paid over $500 for an AGON 27" 144Hz 1440p TN back in the day…

Is this better than the hp 27q?

    • I wanna know too. I have the HP. It seems fine but it's my first gaming set up. However, its hard to see if I'm ever playing during the day (it's a bright room)

  • How does it compare to this similar model? Same price

    • +2

this one has gsync compatible, higher brightness and better colour (99% dci-p3 vs 90%)

      get this one

  • Is this monitor better than Dell S2721DGF?

    • No, I have the same monitor. The dell has USB ports and is 100 nits brighter.

I have a 34" ultrawide and a 24" 1080p and having 2 monitors is more important to me than having ultrawide but I also wouldn't want to swap my ultrawide for a 16:9

    • I have a 24" 16:10 screen and a 27" 16:9 screen. It is ideal for me. I used to have another 24" screen too but found I wasn't using the third screen for anything useful, mainly just Spotify or Discord so I got rid of it.

You could have asked one of the AI systems about this.

2 × 27″ QHD is the clear winner for office work.
Total screen area = 623 square inches or 4020 sq cm.
      Total pixels = 7.37 MP

      Compare that to 1 × 34″ WQHD
Total screen area = 411 square inches or 2656 sq cm.
      Total pixels = 4.95 MP

The 2 x 27" will make it easier to work when you open up 2 apps or 2 documents side by side because you have a lot more vertical space. It will be 50% wider in total (120cm wide vs 80cm wide).

The reason your 32" is uncomfortable is because it's both wide and tall. Too tall to sit at a comfortable distance on a typical size desk. And even if you have enough space to push it back until it's comfortable, at that distance the text might look too small on some apps. And you still won't have heaps of vertical space because it's only 70cm wide compared to the 120cm width of 2 x 27".

Your sweet spot is 2 x 27" 4k monitors in my opinion. This will give you decent screen real estate, great text clarity and likely good contrast. Or 1 x 27" 4K as main monitor with 1 x 24" 1080p as your assistant monitor (if you can handle the lack of symmetry). If you're gaming though, these 27" QHD would be good.

Thanks! Grabbed one. Super excited and been waiting on a deal like this!

  • +2

I have this exact same AOC one in QHD but in 24 inches and the pixel density makes everything so sharp and beautiful and close to 4k-like visuals.

  • would grab one if i havn't got 2724dm

  • Is this the same monitor just minus speakers? https://www.centrecom.com.au/aoc-27g4e-27-fhd-fast-ips-180hz…

    • +1

The one you linked is 1080p this is a 2k/1440p monitor.

      • Thanks, I'm an idiot :)

    • That's FHD for starters. Not the same thing.

  • Sorry silly q. Does this draw its power from your computer or is it mains powered?

    • +2

      Power Supply: Internal 100 - 240V~1.5A, 50 / 60Hz
mains- has its own 240v plug

    • +4

Monitors generally don't draw power from a PC, they come with their own AC power cord/adapter. Maybe some portable monitors would draw from the PC.

      • +3

My tiny little 8" monitor I use to monitor temps and control Spotify is powered by my PC via USB, but my 15.6" portable monitor requires external power.

  • Damn. Too slow. Would have been good as my Dell has gone to shit today :(
