          Based on your view, gravity is also not real.

          Though one of those two repeatedly observable, verifiable, and identical across all countries across the planet

            @SBOB: Can you see gravity? no.
            Can you feel gravity? no.
            You believe in gravity because of what you are taught, but you havent physically percieved it with any of your senses. And gravity remains a theory, not proven yet FYI.
            They say something is pulling you down, but what if it wasnt the case. Your belief system convinced you that gravity exists based on what was taught in science classes. Same thing applies to religion, its a belief system.

        to some extent, it doesn't matter. secular prayer, without invoking any deities, could still encourage mindfulness, promote gratitude, foster hope, build connection, support resilience etc.

              Atheism = no belief in God/s

              Atheism is not a belief system nor a religion. You can be Buddhist and atheist, a Confucian can be atheist, Taoist and atheist.

              Some atheists believe nothing, some believe the world is powered by energy, others believe the universe is a cosmic infinite joke, or whatever… it's irrelevant what they do believe, the term defines what they don't believe.

              The philosophy that believes in nothing is nihilism. That's also not a religion.

                @illogicalerror: Atheism is not an absence of belief, it is a belief that there is no God. To have no belief about God you must be agnostic.

                  Atheism is not a belief there is no god, but literally an absence of belief. This is because of burden of proof, and the proof that atheists have to confirm their viewpoint is what they perceive to be a lack of proof. So it remains a disbelief rather than a belief. Some atheists might even be confused about this until you ask them for proof, at which point they point to lack of proof. People don't really realise what they think sometimes.

                  Anti-theists believe there is no god, as a philosophy.

                  Agnosticism is not knowing whether God is real or not. An agnostic can be either theist or atheist depending on their disposition.

        Have you given it a go? Or did you just jump to that conclusion because of what the media and your surrounding tells you? Or did you had a bad experience growing up because people don't act the way they preach? Genuinely curious.

    This helped me a lot during the COVID lockdowns in Melbourne. Highly recommended.

    It’s all backed by research, which is welcome in this day and age.

    Don't worry about the future or worry knowing that knowing that worry is just as affective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.
    The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind.
    The kind that blindsides you at 4 PM on some idle Tuesday. Do one thing every day that scares you.

    Don't waste your time on jealously. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long and in the end, it's only with yourself.

    Whatever you do, don't congratulate yourself too much or berate yourself either. Your choices are half chance. So are everybody else's.

          The path of excess leads to the tower of wisdom (sometimes).

          That said, AB's exit from this world seemed a bit strange as he was still voraciously eating life and he didn't seem that he was anywhere near finished. Certainly not by the side of a pool at a Bali resort or in a hotel in Alsace in the middle of filming for that matter….

  • I've been listening to her podcast on and off since it started. The Happiness Lab. For those that are interested. The earlier seasons are probably more impactful.

    • ooh, thanks, been looking for more. There's something like 'flanderization' but for podcasts, I find, early seasons are the best then they either become generic, or just interview other people who have probably paid to be on to schill their latest book/movie/podcast. Which is what I've found with "How to Be a Better Human".

        The earlier seasons are better. The newer people are sometimes pushing their agenda a little. But it is pretty well balanced and not in your face.
