    I had and still do a Aldi one… $30

    • not sure why peoples neg you. My $20 one has been monitoring my blood pressure for 5 years

Hope it has been calibrated consistently over the 5 years too.

  • A&D Medical - 4.5/5 over 45,000 reviews - $34.99 - https://www.amazon.com.au/Medical-UA-611-Pressure-Monitor-Sl…

  • There's also plenty of Ali ones… I have one from Aliexpress which I compared against other branded devices - seem to have consistent result. It is actually a pretty simple device. I used to use a manual one as well where you would listen to the heart beats.

You can buy the Omron wrist model for significantly less. Its the same brand/quality as GPs generally have, more convenient to use and a better bargain.

Are the wrist ones as accurate? They do have to be positioned correctly. And what you are measuring isn't like your height or your weight which don't change at all, or only change gradually. Blood pressure varies significantly, and quickly, for all sorts or reasons,so even if the device measured precisely, you'd get a different reading 5 minutes later. So you are not trying to get a precise to the mmHg reading, you just want a low/ok/high indication and a trend. You can leave it to your GP to get a precise reading.

  • Wow, we got one from the chemist, cost under $30, works a treat.

Just a heads up, if you have Private health insurance, check if they offer Blood pressure monitors as extras. I got mine and they paid 75%. I got the top Omron model. Just make sure to check where you can purchase from, I'm with NIB and they didn't accept a receipt from JB Hifi, apparently they are not a medical devices supplier, although they accepted from Chemist Warehouse… go figure.

Had one for a few years. Once a year or so I bring it to Dr appointment and compare the measurements. If very close I know it's good (one with theirs and one with mine same appointment). White coat syndrom so very high at drs and no point going for those numbers. My Dr goes by what my measurement is at home as know it is "calibrated". Usually ask me to do 3 measurements before appointment.

      This is good advice. Thanks.

  • The A & D UA-611 is all you need if you don’t need Bluetooth connectivity, stores the last 30 measurements and is clinically validated, so is accurate subject to it being used correctly. Also make sure if you’re buying a a BPM that it has a cuff size to accommodate you bicep size.

It's also recommended to sit for 5 minutes prior and don't talk or cross your legs while doing it.

Also your arm needs to be positioned so the cuff is adjacent to and at about the same as your heart to get an accurate measurement.

      • It's also recommended to sit for 5 minutes prior and don't talk or cross your legs while doing it.

There goes half your GP appointment before they can get a blood pressure reading.

I bought the older model HEM-7142T for $85.75 a few weeks ago, also from King's Chemist but through their eBay store. It does everything this more expensive one does, but has only 14 stored memory instead of 30 stored memory. It doesn't matter since all the measurements get transferred to Omron's app and is then picked up by your preferred health app. I'm using Samsung Health and it picks all the measurements up. No issues, all good with this blood pressure monitor.

I went to the GP not long ago, and they too use an Omron that looked very similar to this one.

    • I went to the GP not long ago, and they too use an Omron

You don't diagnose yourself, you let your GP do that. There's only any point doing your own blood pressure so you can tell them. f you don't have a monitor just like theirs they dismiss whatever readings you got as not accurate. Using at least the same brand device as theirs gives your readings some credibility.

  • Showing $112.10

    • Its appears they have increased the price, was $101.35 at the time of posting

      That's what deal EXPIRED means.

  • I bought one from Aliexpress years ago due to an ongoing medical condition that required frequent hospital visit .

I’d monitor my blood pressure at home and then when I had my weekly appointments the medicos would check it then .

I’d compare results and The $10 Aliexpress machine was on par with the hospital unit.
