3% Sailcylic. My one sneeze carries 6% salicylic.

Dandruffs hate this one simple trick

      • explains why you don't get dandruff up your nose

As someone who was on H&S for ywars, stop when you can. My scalp was so dependent on it, i couldnt use any other shampoo and i had to shampoo everyday otherwise itd be so itchy. At the start of the year i used my last bottle, looked at current prices and was like nah. Used another shampoo. Took about a month of hell for my scalp to 'wean' off H&S, once or twice a week id use Selsun blue/cedel.

      • So what to do. I use anything else. I builts flakes. Never go..never ever.

        • Are you 100% sure you have dandruff?, or could it be dry scalp? Treating dry scalp with dandruff shampoos probably wont help and could make it worse.

Also dont listen to anyone telling you to not use shampoo.

@abjsdhasehasee: Yes, hair looks too dull and dry.
            Started hair thinning
It all started in 2018 when i bought keratine hair softner treatment from ebay and applied myself to roots accidentally. After that hair fall started and dandruff.

            • @Zeee: Try applying few drops of oil like almond, sesame or coconut once every 3 days.

            • @Zeee: Sounds more like dry scalp than dandruff, probably why that shampoo wasn't working.

I'm not a pro on dry scalp but I think using a less harsh shampoo, maybe no sulfates and some hair oil once in a while should help.

Always do some research to confirm tho.

      • Try to wean off shampoo completely, and only use it occasionally like once a month. Selsun gold works best for me.

It all depends on the exact nature of your dandruff. For me personally H&S never worked. Neutrogena Was second best. The one that really worked for me was Nizoral 2%.just used till the symptoms cleared and it has been dandruff free for a long while.

I have tried them.all. nizoral i used twice a week

        • Got a nice suggestion from a mate to rotate between this and Nizoral once a week each. I'd use T/Gel on a Thursday, then use Nizoral on a Sunday. I agree with other commenters that stuff like H&S it seems to get less effective over time, but with this rotation the effectiveness of both seems to retain over a long period of time.

YMMV, adjust according to how bad your scalp issue is.

EDIT: Seems they changed the formula according to this comment. Consider that as well if buying.

its not as effective as Coal Tar, i just bought Selsun Gold, lets see if that works.

Sebitar is the best imo. Smells like shit due to the coal tar but it's the best for scalp issues.

      • thanks, 1st i need to try Selsun Gold for atleast 4 week, lets see if that works.
i don't know why they discontinued the Coal Tar, cant find it anywhere, or its really expensive.

      • I tried Sebitar but it was the same as H&S for me. Dandruff came back after non-use. Right now I'm using Nizoral 2% which has ketaconazole as it's active ingredient. It's been the best one so far, can go longer without using it.

  • 3% Salicylic Acid

Can be used to make aspirin…

    • Or you can use aspirin to wash your hair. Your dandruff will be healthier.

Absolutely livid these bastards changed the product formula completely including the active ingredients, yet left the name and packaging style exactly the same. The new product with Salicylic Acid is absolute garbage compared to the original Coal Tar version.

    • I wonder why would they have changed it!

    • Yeah wow, I didn't realise this replaced the coal tar version, I thought it was an alternative product. In the US, they offer both as T/Sal and T/Gel, so it's strange they're not doing the same here. Maybe take a look at Sebitar if you haven't already, though be warned that the old T/Gel smells downright pleasant compared to Sebitar.

    • What a joke. I have no idea why they changed it??? I have been using the old Nutrogena for 20+ years for the tiny bit of psoriasis I get on my scalp from time to time, but now I'm going to have to look for something different. That Sebitar looks to be the only other local shampoo that contains coal tar, but it's about twice the price??? That Redwin "Coal Tar" shampoo doesn't actually contain coal tar, but it's just a fragrance which I find bizarre???

I remember years ago before I started using Nutrogena, I used to use some home brand coal tar shampoo, but it appears that there is no other option these days.

Google-”coal tar health risks”, that might give you a clue.

No wonder I thought it was weird that this reported Salicylic Acid when the bottles I have say Coal Tar (I stocked up at Aldi). Neutrogena discontinued my favourite oil-free moisturiser now this..

Nothing new there, profit beyond anything else, same here in Australia, as long as it's not gonna kill you instantaneously and you cant be linked directly, all good, let the money and bodies role baby! 🥳

Not gonna even go into sunscreens, most are cancerous also. No you're not gonna get sun cancer from them, yes you'll get all other possible cancers from them (it's a lotto what you'll get) and they love F with your hormones, thyroid, glands etc.

  • Thank you, just purchase on a 6 month sub so I have plenty of time to remember to cancel

  • Selson i'm using atm. Anyone trying to switch here same as me?
