Skincare is just something not worth cheaping out on. Products at this price can be hit or miss, and you generally don’t want to keep jumping between brands or it will cause breakouts.

If your skin ends up reacting well to it, then you’re stuck buying moderately expensive kmart serums when the price goes back up (or gets discontinued and you’re stuck shopping around and risking break outs again)

Surely there aren’t different types of active ingredients.

Niacinamide should be just that regardless of price, yeah?

No its definitely formulated differently. It's why a lot of women go through several brands until they find one that suits their skin best, despite them all having essentially the same ingredients.

      • Vitamin C for example is an active ingredient, but it's useless/has little value without other chemicals to help stabilise it for an acceptable shelf life.

Its thoughts like these that skin care companies Cash on. No wonder brands are charging a Liver and a Kidney, for skin care these days.

There are heaps of brands now that are quite affordable. It's not like you only have a choice between Kmart and Aesop. There's The Ordinary and Sukin, then the Korean brands like Some By Mi.
