The real cost is having another shitty app on my phone…

      • Idk I didn’t think it was too bad, I already run 7 e27 lamps and 2 motion sensors from mirabella Genio range though

        • Pretty sure they run on Tuya anyway dont they? I run many brands on the SmartLife app, though Genio I don't have.

          • @bamzero: All the Mirabella Genio stuff is 100% Tuya app compatible.

    • This product is excluded from the free delivery* offer, and will incur a delivery fee.

The Mirabella Genio Wi-Fi Pixel LED Curved Ambient Floor Lamp

No free delivery for WA maybe

      • Maybe or it’s fixed now.
I had one in cart when deal was first posted (that’s how I know it was free delivery as normally that store stuff would be excluded)

        • Did you end up getting one of them? Mines already died, bringing it in to return is a biiiit of a hassle.

          • @ATangk: No I didn’t I decided it was going to be a bit bulky for where I wanted it. I’m more after a deal on a straight up down one

            • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: I got the previous Genio twin 1.2m light bars for $10 or $20 and I’d say those are significantly better, they have perfect diffusion. Don’t think they’re still made though.

dont buy the Earphones not worth it even if they gave you $2

  • Dammit - I paid $25 for that pink switch controller.

    • Reckon it’ll work on a Switch 2?

      • I haven't looked into it, but my understanding is that generic controllers will work but not wake up the console from sleep.

    • How is the pink controller? May get one for my daughter

Works fine but I'm a little biased since my expensive Pro Controller has awful drift. It's very lightweight and feels a bit like a toy, though.

That wireless keyboard mouse combo looks suspiciously like the Logitech pebble series…

    • +1

True! Just ordered it with free delivery.

I bought this keyboard. Then ChatGPT informed me that wireless keyboards that are unencrypted risk outsiders capturing all your keystrokes (including passwords, etc). I assume a $9 keyboard doesn't encrypt the keystrokes. Chatgpt then proceeded to ask if I wanted an explanation of how attackers would pull this off, and all it would take was a wifi dongle.

I don't know anything about computers. Can anyone tell me if this is an actual concern? Can anyone within wifi range, e.g. neighbours, really pick up my keystrokes when I'm entering passwords if they wanted to?

      • Good to know!

        • Unencrypted traffic sniffing (common in cheap BT devices or older Bluetooth versions ≤ v2.1): attackers nearby (within ~10–50 m) can capture keystrokes with a sniffer dongle.
        • Key injection: if pairing is insecure or uses a fixed PIN (e.g., 0000), an attacker can impersonate the keyboard and send malicious commands.
        • MITM during pairing: without Secure Simple Pairing (SSP) or LE Secure Connections, pairing can be intercepted.
        • Firmware exploitation: some BT keyboards have updateable firmware over the air; a compromised update channel could plant malware.
        • BLE fuzzing/exploitation: newer BLE keyboards can still have exploitable flaws in protocol handling (e.g., CVE-2023 BLE injection bugs).
          (ChatGPT)
        • That looks like it's talking about bluetooth keyboards/devices. This $9 Anko keyboard is a wireless keyboard, operating on the 2.4Ghz frequency. Apparently it's less secure than BT, if it's unencrypted.

The worry I have is ChatGPT basically gave a guide on how to intercept keystrokes on unsecure keyboards without trying too hard. And it looks simple enough that anyone could do it. Find the type of USB sniffer dongle the guide mentions - I'm guessing you can get for <$50 bucks on Aliexpress delivered. Then download and run the open source software named by ChatGPT that decodes the wifi traffic. Then apparently everything typed on the keyboard will show up on your screen, in real time, so things like emails, passwords, google searches, etc. Anyone within ~5-10m range can supposedly do this, so your housemates and potentially neighbours, maybe someone parked outside in a car.

But I'm not a tech expert so I don't know how realistic this threat is. If it's a real risk, then to heck with saving money on a cheap wifi keyboard, def not worth the savings.

  • is that Powerbank 10000mAh 20W a good deal?

    • +1

There are occasionally 10,000mAh power banks posted on OzB from more reputable tech brands for $10-$20
I personally avoid Anko electronics due to my history with an Anko power bank, but YMMV

      • Same here my experience with anko has been catastrophic. Even common items like a pedal rubbish bin or a dish drainer break within a week. I wished KMart could go back to what it used to be before transforming it into an Anko shop with very low quality products.

  • Thank god to found this tomorrow should be my shopping day.

Thanks for the antenna. Never watched normal TV, maybe time to give it a go.

    • Keep the box; you'll need it.

    • I almost never do except for the Olympics, when I realised how slow/restricted and confusing the Nine app is with replays. Now I can access Nine and record to HD (admittedly only one tuner, but that's enough for me).

Also, our apartment tower's common aerial has problems with Nine even though we're in a busy metro eastern suburb of Sydney.

Definitely one of the better ways I've spent $3.50 - not that that will get you much else these days other than maybe some cheese on a burger.

    Some also available at Target

  • Does anyone know if the indoor antenna can be hooked up (by stripping the wire) to garage door motor antenna wire for boosting/improving the wireless remote range?

  • +3

Unexpectedly the lantern has a white noise mode by holding down the knob - crickets, water and waves. It'll only work with warm light and you can't toggle between the colours. No issue when you're using it as a speaker for music.
