Rechargeable Digital Clock Easily Viewable at Night

Looking for a simple digital clock that is easily seen at night and had rechargeable capabilities.

The idea is to connect it to a large power bank so I don't have to use batteries.

Can be micro USB or USB C.

Just trying to find a cheap clock to put at the front of the house for when I leave or arrive home in the dark.

Anyone found any good one?

EDIT update:

Thanks all I went with Digital Led Alarm Clock Temperature Date and Week Display Table Clock Night Mode Brightness Adjustable Electronic Alarm Clocks for about $12.15 AUD after aliexpress coupons and taxes were calculated (another update was able to buy it for $3.00 AUD plus $2.00 AUD tax free shipping so total $5.00 AUD now to cancel the other order or at least try.. order was cancelled via ai chat bot and hopefulyl refund will process in 1 to 10 days)

looks I can keep it plugged into something like my power bank and has a nice temperature function just something nice to decorate the front i guess and really know how much time I have to power nap before I gotta run for the train

cheers thanks all again

Just wait till there’s sunlight and you can use a sundial.

    • Or just turn a light on. Problem solved.

Someone will take the phone if left outside the house

  • Don’t have a clock in your car?

  • A watch? Or a Google hub?

This is something you search in AliExpress

    • Or now, Amazon Haul (which is funny that if k you’re haul, it autocorrects to jail)

My wife is super sensitive to clocks ticking, so we can't have one in our bedroom. We also wanted something that could be seen in the dark.

I wired up a super old Android tablet, and mounted it on the wall - it only runs a basic clock app that changes from night mode (grey text on black background) to day mode (black text on white background) based on ambient light, and it can be read at any time of the day or night. An old phone would be suitable too, if you choose a font that can be read a distance away.

I use a mobile phone that was bricked when 3G was shut down. Its not of any other use than as a very expensive bedside clock. Its use it as that or chuck it away.

  • I bought a projection alarm clock for White Elephant, won it back then returned as it was battery only; still rate it as an appealing idea and there are a few around now that run on DC

JFC, really? I just put "simple digital wall clock" into Google and it spat about about 4 million results. Aliexpress, eBay, Shien, Temu… Take your pick.

I'm trying to work out a use case where you need the time when you walk in or leave, that you can't simply check your phone or a watch…

      • I also want to know this

        • I think it will forever be a mystery, wrapped in an enigma

@spackbace: tl;dr I have a heavy phone and being able to just sit for a few minutes at the front of my house without having to check my phone would be nice just my few minutes to myself before I start my day more rest less stress better life

@AlienC: Fair cop. This is why I wear a nice automatic or manual wind wrist watch. I feel connected to the time and I don’t have to check my phone.

@Pelicannn: That's nice wish I could do that but I hate wearing anything from necklaces to wristbands to watches.

Plus hate getting watches wet especially when washing hands that was my biggest pet peeve in school when I used to wear the Velcro and rubber watches.

Honestly I'm just bored and finding random stuff to put in my house and that one seemed like a nice idea.

      • @AlienC please explain.

        • I guess it is just ease of convenience. Have you ever been so tired you just wanted to sit down and look at something a glance at a clock.

I guess I have a brick phone now literally around 600g so honestly pulling that out less is a nice small convenience for me.

It is kind of like being able to glance at the train clocks instead of having to pull out your phone.

This way I can maybe take a nice 1 or 2 minute breather before I start the day and just keep eye on the time without having to fiddle with something in my hand which I will be doing all day.

It is about less actions taken per lifetime haha lol.

Also the front just needs some nice decor and will be nice to see time and temperature at a glance and might even help my housemates with their time keeping.

I find myself trying to slip a mini power nap here and there be it on the train or bus or sitting down waiting for something so yeah thats my horrible life scenario hope it helps you understand why I want it now more but basically I just don't want to be late for the train and I have a very heavy phone Doogee V Max which I like to take out as little as possible.

The idea is to connect it to a large power bank so I don't have to use batteries.

    Just use solar

  • for when I leave or arrive home in the dark.

Don't have a phone? Just configure the lock screen to display the time …

  • A large power bank is a battery so what's the difference? Is it basically a matter of not having a power point nearby?
Not a fan of internal rechargeable batteries on such simple devices that don't typically go obsolete (or it doesn't matter when they do) - when the battery dies it would have to pretty much stay plugged all the time anyway.

My suggestion would be just get a cheapie Kmart or Big W clock that runs on a 3V/5V/.. DC power adapter then just hook it up to a USB-C power bank with one of those USB-C PD DC plugs.

Another idea is just have a regular clock but put a PIR light in the room so it'll illuminate it anyway.

Thanks all I went with https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005007976389047.html?spm=a2… for about $12.15 AUD after aliexpress coupons and taxes were calculated

also ended up picking a bunch of other stuff ah the online shopping impulse buys take my ozbargain badge away although they were pretty good prices so maybe I keep? some double sided tape some gloves and some more tape haha lol what is my life

    • Ended up cancelling order after I was able to get it for $5.00 AUD instead well $3 + $2 tax or something (pro tip try use incognito window for aliexpress and probably temu and some other websites also to verify the right price because these types of websites are shady af with their pricing.

    • Good idea wish I had the patience right now and the time to assemble it but this is perfect maybe a retirement hobby when I finally have the energy and time?

      • If you build it, you will have the time.
