Why tf you need satellite? To post your tiktok video? Tskk. Nice use of NEG bro..

Stick to finding KFC deals bro, this ain't for you. Stick to your fast food deals. Lol

Wow, must be a horrible feature if all new iphones are c oming out with it? Imagine if you had no cellular data and you were stuck and needed help? Sateileetie sos would save your ass.

      • +4

Good luck with that 2 day battery life.

    • +1

No, but it will lambast you for not burning enough calories when you wash your car.

Seems a bit much, I recommended a family member got a Forerunner 945 for $500 half price a few years ago, going great.

    • +1

Same but with a 965 during a recent sale. I want to like Garmin, but their prices are ridiculous… coupled with the clunky software/app and inaccurate HR tracking (plenty of comparisons and vids on this).

crazy to think you can get a Apple watch ultra 2 for $400+ cheaper than this, full titanium/sapphire/ceramic build as well.

      • +1

Yeah like most things the top models aren't the best value or discounted much. I think for 50% off they are pretty good (and for people into fitness was worth the extra $300 over a Fitbit if it's your only watch).

Probably best to wait for 3 months and see if any go at a bigger discount around black friday.

I suspect the Fenix 8 may be a bit too new to be heavily discounted then but we'll see.

  • +4

damn got the fenix 6 pro for $460 4 years ago, prices are mad.

    • Yeah same, it's ridiculous now. Totally out of control.

    • Agree, people really been to RUNNING now after the Covid. The demand is crazy, even the Polarpros and Coros are so expensive.

  • +3

Been an apple Ultra fan since it was released but after moving to Fenix 8… Happiest day ever especially with my trainings. Best purchased ever. Too many training variables really helped me that Apple Ultra does not have.. Only apple ultra advantage is the "Yeah I can leave my phone at home" feature while training.

Bough mine 47m Amoled at Jb hifi commercial. $1400ish few months ago.

    • I want this watch but just can’t bring myself to pay what they’re asking, even at this price.

      Can’t believe I’m going to get an Ultra 3 because it’s cheaper…

      • How will battery life compare with Ultra 3? That has always been what turned me off Apple Watches compared with Garmin

        • Almost certainly the Garmin will have better battery life and by a significant margin. I’m okay with charging every 2-3 days, but I can’t get through a waking day right now on my Watch 6.
The Ultras usually give between 1.5-3 days depending on how you use it.

Wish Apple would sort out their battery life problem, it’s crazy.

        • +1

With my level of training I need to charge my Ultra 2 at least daily. Gym in the morning, run at night. With garmin 8, 12-14 days lol.

        • +2

You have to be prepared to charge an apple watch daily, just the same as phones. Garmin battery life is excellent.

    • The HRM and sleep tracking are vastly inferior to Apple and Google Pixel watches, which makes metrics such as the Body Battery pretty useless, but for me the killer features are external HRM compatibility and the battery, and I love the look of my Fenix 8 51mm Titanium with the matching Titanium bracelet. Still looking for a great looking always-on watchface though.

Wow - thats cheap - Placed order for 2 watches.

  • +3

Probably an ATL, thanks OP. But still not quite low enough tbh.

    • +1

The Fenix line does drop to this price relatively often . I was looking at them last year before the Watch Ultra 2 came out and they were hovering around this price for a while.
I think it’s just Garmin getting ahead of the Watch 3 announcement.

  • +2

jesus.. a watch for this price needs to come with a controllable kill-drone to pewpew the competition ahead

  • +3

Forerunner 955 or 965 are way better value and the difference is not that big to be honest.

    • Yep, I'll be getting a Forerunner when my Fenix 6 dies. Most people don't use anywhere near the full extent of features. Not even close.

For anyone so inclined, it's also available for the same discount (albeit without Rebel Active Rewards) from Gamin directly: https://www.rebelsport.com.au/p/garmin-fenix-8-51mm-amoled-s…

Also, it's only 11% off Garmin's (typically very inflated) retail price, so just a reminder: many people can get better discounts through their private health insurance. Eg Depending on your specific policy, BUPA can get up to 25% off Garmin retail prices. Always worth checking first :)

  • Can confirm that I got mine at 20% discount via NIB.

  • Xmas is coming HODL

  • Shocked by the price tag. Was going to suggest Coros but then realised Coros flagship watch Vertix 2S is also over $1,000.

  • Those who complain about the price should probably just wait six months to a year; the price will likely drop to around $800.

  • +1

If anyone is able to share a 25% discount code from their health insurance, that would be appreciated! Please DM me …..

    • Bupa offers 20% and it's off RRP

Love the torch on my Fenix 7

  • Woah. , still using my now ancient Suunto Ambit 3 vertical, well … I was until last week, battery seems to have finally crapped itself, goes flat in 1/2 a day instead if in a week. Had thought about replacing it witj a newer watch but not at these prices.. Ouch.. I might try replacing the battery at a watch shop
