Subscription is the king $$ here. Device should be free :)

Looks like need to purchase a separate 'Sync Module 2' in order to record locally to a USB drive.

      No thanks.

The local recording is so bad. It barely works at all. I canned three Blink Outdoor4 units because the Blink ecosystem simply doesn’t work well.

  • Just a reminder to include price in the post title.

Blink sync module 2 required for local storage which is being listed $59 extra

  • Can you do live playback for free using this camera without a subscription?

That appears to be one thing you can do without a subscription - view the live feed. You just can't record it.

      • could be worth it then, thanks

IMO just go for a Tapo camera on sale like the Tapo c210. They go for ~$30, can record locally and has heaps of additional functions without a subscription.

  • Can use this as webcam for computer without any subscription?

  • I bought one of these thinking I could use it as a camera for one of m y 3d printers.

    Nope.

These things are locked down hard. I ended up going with a Logitech C922 Pro.

I'll also be sticking with my TP-Link cameras as they are cheaper, allow network 3rd party app access, footage can be stored locally via onboard MicroSD or sent to configured internal network storage and remote access through the app is fairly quick & easy.
