Shopback has upsized the cashback amount for Agoda. The cashback rates are as follows

Hotels: 14%
Package (hotel portion): 14%

Note: For Shopback plus, add an extra 1.0% on top of the rates above

I have been tracking hotel booking + cashbacks for a while and 14% is on the higher end of cashbacks available.

Tips for Hotels

Before booking hotels, I think it's best to check the hotel price using the following methods and find the cheapest one:
1. Check the price of the hotel using Agoda without Shopback
2. Check the price of the hotel using Google, by specifying the exact hotel and dates
3. Check the price of the hotel using Agoda with Shopback and calculate the price with the cashback. Keep in mind that the cashback amount may not apply to the tax portion of the price

Also, use the free cancellation option and cancel/rebook later when a cheaper price comes up.

* Car Rental
* Airport Transfer
* Bookings on external partner pages
* Any Gift Card, Voucher or store credit purchase
* Any Gift Card or Voucher redemption
* Any store credit redemption
* Fees · Taxes · Service charges

Refunds, Cancellations and No-shows

Any rejected, cancelled, refunded, exchanged or returned purchases will not be eligible for Cashback.
* For partial returns or exchanges, we'll prorate the Cashback as an adjustment.
* No-shows and any booking changes that lead to a change in the booking ID will not be eligible for Cashback.

Tracking Disclaimers

• Your Cashback may be tracked at a different rate initially and adjusted to the correct rate when we confirm the transaction details.
• Exchange rates may cause small changes to your purchase total and Cashback from some foreign stores.

  I booked tour in Asia last night with Klook from SB for 14% cashback, but was detected as Europe tour, which is only 5.5% cb. Have to chat with bot and it raised the ticket for me. Hopefully a human will look into the ticket

    They'll keep you waiting for months and then blame the merchant saying they didn't pay for whatever reason.

  Wish Accor was member rates on other sites… The fact Accor provides 15% off retail to Accor Plus members already ruins all these kinds of deals.

  Not only do you lose out on points (which equate to ~5% back at minimum status tier, ~10% at maximum), you pay more to start with.

  Edit: checked a few occurs, one example comes to $4,700 after cashback for a month, I've booked $4,400 for the same dates and get ~$350 back in reward points, so just over $4000, plus earn status points… Often isn't worth it if it's a hotel that allows direct booking and not an AirBNB style property (those become quite good deals, some here are ~$130/night for 1bedroom apartments).

  Edit 2: Forgot to mention I get 5% cashback as is on Accor, and status means a free room upgrade from 1bedroom to 2bedroom apartment (not that I need it)

    The prices seem to vary widely depending on how you arrive at the site. I've seen it cheaper with cashback rather than direct.

  Don't be surprised if the Agoda payment on your credit card increases due to "exchange rate variation", even if you think the price is in $AUD. Agoda is often sneaky about this.

      Agoda is based in SG, you will pay an exchange rate.
