Been trying to load this one for a couple days and keep being distracteded by something!

By and far THE cheapest entry point to the expect this ATL to be in place for some time personally!

They JUST dropped their ebay price to $134.99 as the Father's.day sale ended so a steal at this price!

Semi - side deal - Anyone who missed/wants E1 Pro Refurbished in Black during the ebay sale I've persuaded Reolink to allow a single unit to be purchased (apparently they only ever allow 2+) from their website

Excellent price for a good camera.

This is branded as one of their "Colour Night Vision" cameras, and whilst it's better than a lot of other cameras that make that claim, it's not a patch on the CX810 / 820 and CX410 / 420. Those things have insane ability to capture colour detail in semi-darkness.

This is good, but if you're expecting CX810/820 quality you will be disappointed.

A tip if you do buy this and find the pictures too dark at night - disable HDR. Widely-reported issue that HDR mode deals appallingly with low levels of light. The moment you have even a hint of light, it looks pretty good. I was really disappointed with mine until I disabled HDR. Much happier now.

    Well spotted, @parad0x

    • You speaking from first hand experience?
I didn't dig too deep and it wsd a while ago, but the difference wasn't huge, rather more what you'd expect from a sphere head VS a cylindrical cx.

Do you frequent the reolink subreddit? I feel we've had this conversation or similar before :D

I think it may have been yourself that pointed out, thankfully, that there was 4 Outdoor models, rather more importantly that the Colour version was its own version, now simply the "New Outdoor"

      • Yep, first hand experience here - got a bunch of reolinks. I've definitely stalked the reolink Reddit a few times, but don't think I've posted there. Ozbargain is still my tribe.

I also have the e1 outdoor pro as well as the outdoor cx, and the cx810 and cx820. The latter two impress everyone I show then to. The e1 cameras are good but don't get the same "wow". But definitely better than your average sphere.

        • Hmm I might list grab the 1 then. Put the cx810 next to an Rc820a era HikVision clone, and there's clearly a alot better picture on the Hik which was surprising to see given an entire Gen of camera's different…

Also likely to hook these up to a solar + battery (2 storey home, with the entire side of my house, north facing.80% brick 20% glass - I've got.to put it to use, dropping summer temps, getting good winter yield etc.
So I'll start the ULV array/cable runs and provided it doesn't connect .any inverters it all good!

Which 4k POE system to go for - Reolink vs Hikvision vs Dahua?

    • -1

The one which you can afford and you prefwr

    • I'm currently researching this same topic. Electrician recommended Dahua just because he only ever installed those and he has no experience with Reolink.

Leaning towards Reolink just because of all the information that is available on their website support page and on Reddit.

      • I had the same question and ended up going Reolink. For the price it can't be beat. I'm not sure I'd see the benefit from Hikvision for the extra $.

    • I have HiK vision and I wish I'd gone for something like ReoLink

The noise the HD makes is relentless
      The interface is crap
For the price I'd paid, I was left disappointed

  • Only POE with these?

    • No, runs off a DC power supply and comes with a good length cable. Works off wifi or ethernet.
