    Good price

  • OP, would you know the expiry date on these?

    • 19/03/2027

  • +3

Boost Mobile Prepaid $300 Starter kit SIM card 12 months 300GB if activate the SIM before 06/10/2025. The SIM card expires 19/03/2027.

    • +1

I'm a bit confused by your comment that says:
“Boost Mobile Prepaid $300 Starter Kit SIM card – 12 months, 300GB if activated before 06/10/2025.”

Am I allowed to activate the SIM in February next year?
If so, would I receive 240GB or the full 300GB of data?

      • +2

        I think:
You can activate in Feb 26 but you’d get 240gb.
        Activate by 6th October 25, get 300gb

  • thanks bought one

  • Hey, I was wondering, if both are prepaid, what’s the main difference in the network coverage between Boost and Telstra?

    • +2

      Same coverage.

      • +1

Boost runs through the full Telstra retail network. No coverage differences between Telstra and Boost customers.

    • +7

      technically no coverage difference, but

if you are in a signal-congested area, there's very little difference for voice call, but for data it'll prioritize Telstra Customers over Boost Customers.

for example, on a crowded trains inside a tunnel.

      • +1

Thanks. Will avoid Boost then. That explains why things never work in a crowded shopping mall and underground on the train in Sydney during peak.

        • Telstra aren’t the best in shopping centres either, their DAS systems are lacking compared to Optus.

        • I personally found Lebara works better than boost in Train tunnels…

      • +1

Or it could just depend on the specific plan when it comes to priority. For a basic/prepaid plan on Telstra I don’t think it would be better than Boost, both could well be in the same pool. I had very, very bad experience with Telstra at Eastland SC and some other places in VIC.

        • No, you are wrong. Telstra is prioritised over boost

          • @thedavemiester: Anyway to find out please? I don't mind paying, just want something that works. The corporate plan in the spare phone is about the same as both Boost and Telstra pre/postpaid about 2 years back.

Surprised to find that Optus works much better in Sydney.

            • @SetTheFaqUp: Only way is to get a SIM for a month and do your own testing. Boost sims are on sale pretty regularly.

I am using this provider atm, but poor reception in VIC3150 area, so many times cut off your phone call. but else where is outstanding, I am thinking swap to optus? may be it is better in this area? or telstra annual sim card from costco? any advice?

    • +1

buy the one with the most coverage in your frequently visited area, who cares about Telstra covers more area over the entire Australia, if your frequently visited area is patchy…

      • boost, telstra, optus and vodafone all covered in my area with 5g, according to map, but actually very bad reception, only one bar signal…

        • +4

Go here and select near address and put your address in, you can then see what provider has towers closer to you.

          • @apptrack: Thanks Jenius!

            • @nng526: I personally recommend just buy some discounted prepaid SIM (from their website, or from Coles/Woolies) to try it out yourself.

              like Vodafone/Kogan/Lebara/Felix for Vodafone
              like Optus/Amaysim/Coles
              like Telstra/Boost/JB-HiFi (for Full Telstra)
like Belong/Aldi etc etc (for Telstra wholesale)

at the right time those SIM could be less than $10 per month, you can even port back'n'forth to try each one out whilst SIM slutting and save money.

    • Buy a cheap prepaid and test it out

  • One must use after pay for this right?

    • I guess the gift card value should be $177 as $50 is the minimum amount to trigger the after pay code discount to work.

      • Just needs to be $1 afterpay, rest can be gift card.

  • TCB extra 3% off, works with Aftpay

  • This is bad I just bought on one on Tuesday for $250

    So sad

  • +1

unfortunately I don't use Afterpay or similar services. Too much trouble and ?risk
Any alternative which still has good discount? thanks.

  • What is the data allowance if activation is after the 6/10 ?

    • @soupparat
      It is 240GB

      • Thank you !

  • My experience is similar to others above. Voice coverage is fine but data is next to useless in 3145, the CBD and on a packed train throughout the day in VIC. This began for me when they introduced the data speed limits circa 2023. Before then, it was as good as my previous telstra postpaid service, hence why I moved once the contract I was on had expired.
Interested in others recommendations, thanks in advance

    • +1

Same, was with them for a long time and saw the frequent price increases & went to others. To my surprise they weren't too bad, coverage between work to home is pretty good except for a few patches on the train. But the savings are close to $100 & so much data that I can't even use all of it. I switch between Felix(great for roaming) & Moosemobile, costs about $150 a year.

  • If you buy one of these, can you port an existing number onto it? Or are you locked into a new number as it's a prepaid SIM?

    • You choose to port your number or get a new one when you activate it

  • +2

I've just ditched boost and gone to Voda. Currently 300gb for $150 (including cashback). The congestion thing really started to annoy me on boost

  • The Ebay description states "It's a new SIM card for new customers only, not for recharge by the existing Boost customers."
If I already have a Boost phone number and port it out to another carrier, is it possible to port it back into this $300 sim and use the provided credit?

    • +2

Yes. You must port out though

  • Isn't it 300GB if activated before 06/10/2025?

  • Damn no afterpay and don’t want another credit check on my file 😢

  • Typical, I had to buy last month at $257 as my one from last year ran out…

  • Thanks op, ordered. I'm currently with Boost, anyone know a cheap sim I can buy at a brick and mortar store to move away so I can come back as a new customer? I was just going to get a cheap 1 month sim from Coles, should do the trick?

    • +2

From what I've heard the Telstra $2 sim also works for porting out and back into Boost

      • Awesome, I'll give it a look

  • +1

Has boost changed their network or something, reception for the past months in metro Melbourne has been real bad

  • Do you happen to have any more?
