Great reviews on Reddit.

  • Cheap face sunscreen which I’ll use occasionally instead of LRP.

I only use the Hamilton sunscreen when I am outside for <3hours. After 3 hours it tends to sting my eyes.

That report concludes there are sunscreen products that are safe for use.

Because EWG is viewed as biased and untrustworthy, not respected by other scientists. Basically exists to fear monger.

  • I find this one of the best sunscreens to use
Don't think I've ever paid more than 16.99 from CW for this

  • +1

This is a good one! I use it on my arms and hands as well as it’s not sticky or smelly.

  • Does this work any better than the cancer council or Nivea 50+?

    • +5

to be honest it's not often about 'working better' in terms of sun protection - it's more about how it feels on your skin, whether it smells funky after being on your skin for hours, whether it does or does not sting the eyes when applied on the face etc.

but these factors vary from person to person - it's a matter of finding what works.

      • +1

I’m not sure this is entirely true

        • assuming all provide sun protection, then what else is there to consider?

everyone is diff, eg, a previous post said:

I only use the Hamilton sunscreen when I am outside for <3hours. After 3 hours it tends to sting my eyes.

For me, no stinging. So people need to find what works for them.

@bohn: Doubling down on your misinformation doesn’t help I’m afraid.

Hamilton wins not just for comfort, but for robust, well-tested sun protection, safety for sensitive skin, local regulatory rigor, and practical value—things that matter more than just how it feels compared to other brands.

              @FredAstair: thanks again, AI

but listen, if this brand stings someone's eyes, they are better off using another brand.

There ARE other decent brands. Hamilton is not the only one.

Run that through your AI now.

Hamilton wins not just for comfort

You should get AI to re-read how the other person's eyes stings when they wear this > 3 hours. This is not comfortable for them.. ;)

@FredAstair: people come to ozbargain to get info from users, not info from AI

Can you imagine what ozbargain would look like if everyone did this? Perhaps you think about it - do not ask AI this time.

                • +4

@FredAstair: It’s wild that this response to the AI claim is STILL written with AI.

      • +1

To be fair, there was a choice study that found several SPF 50 sunscreens failing to reach their advertised protection. https://www.choice.com.au/health-and-body/beauty-and-persona…

        • that's true
not all brands / types were tested obviously.

Hamilton also was not tested. And I actually use this sunscreen and have for years.

Also, even brands that tested well will not work well if you do not apply enough - which is a very common problem apparently.

  • Why does the bigger bottle use ml but the smaller use grams?

      Marketing tricks?

      • go away AI

        • -1

          Seriously?

wtf is wrong with you and some others here.

I type in the reason why (which sorry, but this is common knowledge to someone like myself) and you respond with something about AI?

No explanation to what you mean by such a comment.

          Just 3 words of negativity.

          Troll much?

          • @FredAstair: Ask AI for some self-reflection

            • @askbargain: You seriously need a better hobby bud

            • @askbargain: threw it into AI as you suggested..
              PMSL.

“Hey bud, no need to tell people to “go away AI” and keep it on topic. The reason bigger bottles use ml (volume) and smaller ones use grams (weight) is usually due to the product type and marketing standards — liquid volumes are often measured in millilitres, and solids or thicker substances measured by weight in grams. It’s likely a marketing trick, not just just standard packaging practice.
FredAstair already gave a decent guess at “marketing tricks,” but really it’s just about how products are sold and measured depending on what’s easier or legal to label. If you want your self-reflection served, maybe try reflecting on being constructive instead of pointless snark. No AI needed for that.
At the end of the day, this place works best when folks drop some helpful info or good banter, not “go away AI” vibes.”

              lol

For those seeing the weird mls and grams for same product:

To compare value between the two sizes:
    • The 75g tube costs $7.49.
    • The 200ml bottle costs $13.99.

Since sunscreen is a liquid/cream, for most brands 1ml = 1g (but double check on the actual packaging for density). For Hamilton Everyday Face, typical online listings show the large size as 200ml or 200g, suggesting the product uses roughly equivalent ml/g units.
    Price per (ml/g)
    • 75g: $7.49 ÷ 75 = $0.0999 per gram/ml
    • 200ml: $13.99 ÷ 200 = $0.06995 per ml

The 200ml bottle offers much better value per ml/g—almost 30% cheaper per unit.
    How much better?
    • Difference: $0.0999 - $0.06995 = $0.02995 per ml/g cheaper
    • Percentage: ($0.02995 ÷ $0.0999) × 100 ≈ 30% better value

    Summary
The 200ml bottle is about 30% better value than the 75g tube, assuming ml and g are equivalent for this product. Choose the 200ml if you want maximum value for money.

      Thanks AI

lol. Downvoted for asking why you asked this.

I see that ozbrgainer members are getting full of trolls.

    • Doesn't really answer my question though. I'm not wondering which one is better value. I want to know why the measurement of amount is different between different sizes of the same product.

This is the closest I got from a brief chatgpt conversation:

      Density Differences

Grams and milliliters aren’t interchangeable unless you know the product’s density.

      1 mL of water = 1 g

But sunscreen is thicker and often denser than water, so 1 mL ≠ 1 g

That means a 200 mL sunscreen could weigh more than 200 g, depending on its formula.

Manufacturers might label one size by volume (mL) and another by mass (g) based on:

Filling processes (volume-fill vs. weight-fill machines)

      Packaging design

      Regulations in different regions

So if I'm understanding it correctly, 75g of sunscreen is likely less than 75ml of sunscreen making the value worse compared to 75ml but people would assume 75g = 75ml so they don't perceive the loss in value. And the density is not listed on the sunscreen packaging so it's impossible to determine the exact value comparison.

      • Ugh.. seriously?

To much spare time on your hands?

  • I love this one. The overhyped LRP smells like melting plastic to me and I can’t even bring myself to use it on my body. Shame because everyone else seems to love it.

    • +1

Same, I never liked LRP but this one's amazing

  • This or La Roche Posay Anthelios Invisible Fluid ?

  • Looks like Hamilton has updated their packaging and pricing. Full price for 200ml will be $32 going forward

    https://www.coles.com.au/product/hamilton-everyday-face-invi…

    • spose we will need to wait for 50% off $16

      • when is the next 50%???
