These functioned really well for me until I researched more into tri-band, quad-band, etc. I recommend a mesh system with a dedicated wireless backhaul if you aren't going wired. Some will have a wireless backhaul but not dedicated so be careful about that, they're shared. I've had this, the RBK762S, RBK862S and now RBKE962. It's a very costly rabbit hole to go down but I enjoy it.

    • I have ethernet backhaul, did think about unifi express 7 with U7 AP but $700-$800 is not what i am planning to spend to future proof

      • Yeah, I have been meaning to look into Ubiquiti but I'm happy with Netgear for the time being. The only gripe I have is their Armour security being behind a paywall. Very off-putting to be honest. Aside from that, they just work.

        • I used to really like Netgear Orbi. However, for my old kit (which has a dedicated wireless backhaul), the satellite unit has a glitchy firmware and Netgear long EOL'ed my mesh kit. It keeps trying to update its firmware and fail (no luck updating the firmware manually because the latest firmware provided by Netgear only works for certain batches and Netgear never bothers fixing it).

The kit used to just works, but eventually the satellite unit requires a reboot every week.
