The express format is pretty much driven by switch 2 adoption IMO.

What. You do realise the MiniSSD form factor is not an official standard yet? It hasn't been recognised by JEDEC. Also, it's not an SD card. Not the same form factor or size, which means you can't use it in a Switch 2 or any other device (like a Pi) that can take a MicroSD.

MiniSSD Is also larger than a MicroSD card, meaning it won't have the same breadth of applications.

Even assuming it quickly becomes an official standard, its going to take years before someone like Nintendo , Valve, Xbox or other officially adopt it into one of their products.

It has been recognised by JEDEC and a handful of manufacturer have already declared they will release devices with the new miniSSD format. We can mention notably Ayaneo and OneXPlayer

No, it hasn't been "recognised by JEDEC" (whatever that means).

          No it hasn't.

They also use Oculink for Pcie connectivity and have been for a while, no one else has adopted that yet.

I'm not saying MiniSSD will be like Oculink, a useful but slightly obscure connection standard. I fully expect it to take off just not in this or the next year.

Given the Switch 2 uses them, they won't be obsolete for at least 7 years.
