Seems that the regular "good" special is now $8.80 instead of $8.40 at the major supermarkets, looking at recent sales trends 😔

As much as I really enjoy these, the Ozbargain in me says to use my coffee machine for all coffee.

  • A 6 pack in Japan cost around 3-400 yen in Japan

I cant find the quote, but some business (profanity) from their Australian subsidiary said Australians see coffee as a luxury and are willing to pay more than Japan so they charge more.

Why in gods name should we pay more just because? Our houses aren't more affordable, our cars aren't more affordable, food/drink should cost less then since we have less disposable income from this logic.

The real reason is people are captive to brands and wont swap or stop and keep paying no matter how much they raise prices above inflation.

Our affordability is rapidly decreasing and so is our quality of life, people making excuses for the companies to keep swallowing it.

People are willing to keep paying so they keep charging!

          • @robert2024: Coffee is the worst. People just keep paying so they'll keep increasing.

I wouldn't bother buying those cans unless in SE Asia or Japan, for about a buck.

Idiots with money keep buying the stuff.

Same issue with pre-orders for unfinished games, unvetted products, cars etc.

It just reinforces it, I absolutely refuse to use vending machines in Australia for exactly this reason.

          They are predatory.

          • @Telios: Same. The first time I ever used a vending machine was in Japan.

          • @Telios: Well at least you get something you paid for in vending machines compared to loot boxes :D

      • They also have significantly cheaper housing so I'm not so sure the affordability is as similar as you say.

        • and very little inflation like a lot of SE Asia.

    • You have to consider the wages in Japan which is quite different than in Australia. I understand about the inflation but Japan also has very similar problems to Australia as well, then you take in South Korea into the equation… well everything changes.

If things continue as is will become the next South Korea following Japan if the prices don't stablize.
