Musashi 100% Whey Chocolate Milkshake 2kg $60.02 (New Customers) + Delivery (Free C&C) @ Direct Chemist Outlet

1070
DCO10OFF

Was chasing a deal on some WPI and everything seems crazy expensive. Seen this deal which is WPI and WPC blend. Nutritional info seems pretty good for what it is at $33/kilo.

Vanilla also on sale.

Never used this brand so no idea on how good it tastes but at this price can't complain. I bought 2kg of each flavour.

RIP AminoZ, Chemist Warehouse is the new king of gains.

    • +1

It's WPC/I, not WPI but good enough price I guess

    • +10

Direct Chemist Outlet isn't owned by Chemist Warehouse, it's a different company

      • +3

When speed reading lets you down :/

        • My concern is this may be older stock, even chemist warehouse haven’t been this cheap for musashi protein since 2024 and direct chemist haven’t gotten the 2025 prices yet.

@AminoZ have jumped in a few times to let oZ bargainers know they’ve been hit with price increases (like a lot of brands) and haven’t been able to offer their usual great deals.

          • +2

@sigh: you can price match at chemist warehouse if they stock the same product, I have matched these guys there before

          • +1

@sigh: I've seen Musashi has new packagings on their products, newer stock?

            • @DraggyX: possibly, I am just hoping Direct Chemist Outlet haven't updated their images online but who knows, probably wont be that lucky

            • @DraggyX: Have to wait and see, website is using old packaging photos ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

            • @DraggyX: Yes, there has been a packaging update on the Musashi protein shakes, the new stock features the updated design.

          • @sigh: The store I went to didn’t have the 2kg, but the smaller bottle was on sale as well and had an expiry of 2027.

            • @EatSleepOzBargainRpt: We currently have the 2kg available online at directchemistoutlet.com.au if you'd like to order it there!

      • +2

Yeah although looks like a rip-off of CW colours (and CW has Musashi 2kg $55 (half price) fairly often).

      • I've had Chemist Warehouse price match offers on Whey before.

    • +2

      What happened to Amino Z?

      • +23

        They're no longer ozbargain friendly..

        • +3

Yes I thought they were nice enough to do promotions just for the ozbargainers but it seems like those were more of a customer acquisition tactic. Since they've hooked a lot of people into their ecosystem with credits and loyalty points, they don’t need to run the big discounts anymore.

          • -1

@OzBargainer4Eva: Yes, a very clrver marketing strategy. Not sure how well this eill work for maintaining the market share over the long term though once all of the points have been spent.

          • @OzBargainer4Eva: Yeah exactly. I bailed once the promos dried up and they started blaming “global price increases.” After crunching the numbers across all my AminoZ orders (different prices + loyalty credits), the average worked out to about $26/kg, and I was happy to exit at that point. Honestly, their WPI just tastes like flavoured milk powder, while global brands like Dymatize/ON/Muscletech have way better texture. And unless you are training really hard, pure WPI isn’t even that great, blend/slow-release proteins are usually better for everyday use.

          • @OzBargainer4Eva: Them and most other Australian sellers are bumping their prices lately. If they are all doing it then I have no reason to doubt that global prices are rising….they are for everything else so why not whey?

Or would you prefer businesses to operate at a loss so you can save 50c on your grocery bill?

      • +2

They are no good anymore, not customer orientated anymore.

    • +1

Messaged AminoZ around three months ago asking for any future deals and was told they're not planning on having any in the foreseeable future…

      I went with something else.

      • I used to get VPA, usually well priced.

  • +2

spent my remaining z point at amino z. rip

  • Free postage over $119…

Anybody actually tried this before and got feedback? I'm running low on the last WPI deal and will need something, but not sure I want to commit straight to 4kg of this haha

    • +2

yeah thats why i bought 4kg free post.

    • +1

I hated the chocolate flavour but love the vanilla one. Can also mix vanilla into a lot more things

      • I don't care about the flavour as I blended with fruit and frozen berries, but got the vanilla because it has higher protein content.

  • Plant protein is $66.75 on Musashi. ShopBack 6% back and free delivery over $150.

    • I see Musashi website also have a new higher tier product 95% WPI vanilla in the 900g at 50% off also https://musashi.com/products/whey-protein-isolate?variant=45…

I grabbed some plus the high protein bars case and premixed protein shakes also on sale to get the free shipping. Also used shopback!

      • $66 for 900g? That seems damn expensive, even by current standards, doesn't it?

        • Yeah it is definitely the most premium option they have being WPI95. Produced in NZ and batch tested for band substances. The other blended options may get similar results. WPI is lower sugar content and less lactose also than the whey and high protein cheaper options from Musashi that are more widely available.

Damn was hoping for 10min but 15min is way too long, I'm out.

  • +2

Wouldn’t 100% whey be whey flavoured???

    • That's just a product name. It's got nothing to do with the percentage of protein powder as you can see on the ingredients list -

Musashi 100% Whey Protein Blend (92%) [Whey Protein Concentrate, Whey Protein Isolate, Emulsifiers (Soy Lecithin, Sunflower Lecithin)], Cocoa Powder, Flavour, Vegetable Gum (Guar Gum), Enzyme (Papain), Sweetener (Sucralose).

      • +2

I’m gonna release a 200% whey product. Should fly off the shelves…

        • Ha yeah our laws are pretty weak if they let brands get away with misleading stuff like this.

        • As long as it's got 192% whey, you should be sweet

    • It probably means that 100% of the protein comes from whey, but yeah, it's pretty lame.

  • I think this is basically the same as inc dynamic whey from chemist warehouse?

  • Thank you got one. I haven’t tried this one but giving it a go!

  • +10

Newsletter discount code is DCO10OFF for 10% off first order, can still check out as guest. Bought 2x2kg of the vanilla whey for $120 delivered.

$30 per KG for whey is amazing value in this climate

    • +1

Thanks. For anyone wanting more than 2 with free shipping split up the orders 2x2kg max.

Did 2x(2x2kg) $240 total with free shipping

      • DCO10OFF is not working for me - getting 'The coupon code isn't valid. Verify the code and try again.'
I have 2x2kg in my cart and shipping option selected.

        • Me neither, did you get it to work?

          • @ryano9: nah i didn't try for much longer after my comment

  • +2

Hoping for feedback. 2kg of terrible tasting whey is more costly than 1kg of good tasting whey no matter how cheap it is.

    • This is my favourite flavour for whey. But taste is very personal.

      • +2

        This brand?

A few years ago Aminoz had Bandito Labs. I still have it in my pantry because of how gross it was. Have risked it and ordered a choc and vanilla, but hopefully I haven't introduced two new residents to the graveyard shelf.

      • vanilla or the choc?

        • Chocolate milkshake

          • @rdhupar: Chocky breaker.. it's more about getting the calories in.
People go overboard on brotein.. most gym junkies smash a lot of chicken, eggs and tuna already.

0.8 -1.2g/kg is usually all you need.

        • Musashi's choc is much better than their vanilla.
Currently have both at home, and forcing myself to get through the vanilla to get back to the chocolate.

If you use milk instead of water, vanilla is fine (i'd still pick the chocolate though).

    • I was using aminoZ but changed to this end of 2023 and it’s way better. High protein versions tastes better but have more calories. Vanilla tastes better than chocolate for me. Dissolves well.

    • FACTS

    • +4

I'm the exact opposite. No matter how vile tasting a protein powder is, I'll consume it, if I find it for cheap.

  • +4

    DCO10OFF

  • I got this Vanilla during covid period. The taste was OK, but it gave me multiple diarrheas. I tried many brands of Whey protein in the past 20 years, including many 20KG bags and retail brands. This is the only brand gave me diarrhea so far - maybe it was just a bad bunch?

    • It maybe be one of their flavourings/sugar replacement that don’t agree with you. Have any issues with anything else sugar free?

  • -5

You guys are comparing this to other WPI deals. MUSASHI 100% WHEY is a super-premium BLEND that contains WPI. Don't compare it to the other pure WPI deals here because they're a better product. They add crap to this to make it taste better. Pay abit extra and get this or find something similar:

    https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/223460895770?_skw=whey+protein+i…

Don't take shortcuts with your health and have what's best for you otherwise don't train just sit at home and eat chocolate. Go hard or go home!

    • +3

      https://au.myprotein.com/p/sports-nutrition/impact-whey-isol…

$40kg for non blend whey isolate when 5kg added to cart.

Instead of buying a unknown name from eBay.

Edit: if this eBay product was third party tested I would have no issues. But saying “don’t put bad shit in your body” and the recommending a product that has not been thirdy party tested especially in a industry full of fraud and bs, is just so ironic

    • +10

I've seen people on various protein deals make this point about spending the extra money to get the "better" WPI instead of WPC.
From my understanding, WPI has a higher protein percentage with lower carbs and fats. To compensate for this, you could just take a slightly larger serving of WPC to get the same amount of protein. This would also result in more carbs and fats, but as far as I can tell this would only be roughly 2 grams extra of each, so unless you are tracking your macros extremely closely, I don't think it would make much of a difference.
Considering the price difference between WPI and WPC, I don't really understand how anyone besides professional bodybuilders could justify paying so much extra to get a little more protein and a few grams less carbs and fat per serve.

      • +3

        Well said.

      • +4

its not just that, some people are lactose intolerant and so WPC is more difficult for them to consume in day to day life than WPI, there are lactase enzyme tablets you can buy from amazon or iherb or whatever but those obviously cost money so if someone was lactose intolerant, consuming WPC will cost more because they will need to take a few tablets with the shake.

edit: your point still stands, i was just adding to it, not arguing back or anything.

    • +6

WPI is overrated unless you on a cut.

Otherwise, it really doesn't matter unless you have gut issues with WPC.

      • +2

And then even then it’s a ridiculously small amount of fats and carbs that even on a cut it will make (profanity) all difference

  • +2

    Thanks, unbeatable value for $30/kg

  • +2

    Nice find, thanks OP

  • Great value with current pricing for protein, cheers
2kg choc and 2kg vanilla came out to $120 free deilvery, checked out as guest with DCO10OFF

  • I recommend the vanilla flavour
Musashi 100% Whey Protein Blend (98%) vs Musashi 100% Whey Protein Blend (92%)

Only ever tried Musashi once, and jeez that was hard to get through.

Much prefer INC WPC when it comes on sale

Tough moving away from amino z but I cant go past this price

    • +1

I've gone through 10kg of Amino z from their specials. Great flavours and products but needed a deal!

  • +1

While I love their products, AminoZ is too expensive for what it is. I can get same volume of HASTA certified WPI for a similar price, just gotta put up with more regular sweeteners

  • Thank you, bought 2. Low protein (74%-76%) but for $30/kg i dont care.

  • This is good enough.. dont waste money on expensive protein powders. Better to spend your money on proper whole foods and sleep

  • -2

Whey. A marketing gimmick. Do people realise it's a waste product?

    • -1

It's a big money maker, skim milk powder and slap a Bright label on the tub and cha-ching..

Caesin and dairy isn't the best, I get plant based.

  • +5

Best price per gram of protein since AminoZ in December 2024.

      This guy proteins

    • +1

Thanks for sharing your spreadsheet… Great insight!

The Concentration column piqued my interest… That AminoZ Aussie Choc Malt, ouch when considering they had so many other great flavours with higher concentration to pick from.

Anyway, that's history as AminoZ are no longer the go to.

I have around $40 credit 'stuck' with them still. Continued to hold out for their next deal, which I don't see coming again, but can only hope 🤞

  • Flagged as backorder now, ~3 weeks to ship, but still at the discounted price.

Wonder if that would ensure it's new stock at least?

  • Can we price match it with chemist warehouse

  • +2

DCO10OFF code seems to not be working? Says "The coupon code isn't valid. Verify the code and try again."
