Any reason these are better than the cheaper Bunnings ones ($42 each)? https://www.bunnings.com.au/firepro-connect-10-year-lithium-…

  • Bunnings ones reviews seems to be bad

These ones seems to be quite goods ones if you go on their Facebook post many people have recommended these ones.

Not as if much to review, so expect reviewers are those who have false alarms, Bunnings must have sold heaps so thats a handful. Pretty sure they would delete any negative ones on FB too.

  • They need a 2 or 3 pack. It's either 1 or 5? 🤔

10 year battery is the way to go vs hardwired as you have to replace the alarms after 10 years anyway and with the hardwired you are up for an installer each time.

Would be good to know what's the manufacturing date on these since they have to be replaced after 10 years. I want 10 full years for my money.

Call this bloke on 0478596402(from their website )he seems to be really good with communication , there google reviews seems to be good too , ordered 5 packs for myself

    • The battery in our 10yr units (not this brand), lasted 12 & 13 years before failing.

  • If they are interconnected and they all good off, then how do you know where the fire is at?

    • +3

walk around looking at the ceiling, once your eyebrows start sizzling, you have found the correct one

      From their website:

      1. To silence an alarm after it has been activated, press the test/silence button on it (or use the remote control).
      2. If interconnected as a group, all alarms will silence except for the one detecting the issue.
      3. Press the test/silence button a second time and ALL alarms will become silenced.

It appears the alarm which detected the smoke will not silence unless pressed a second time. So I'd think you could silence from any, then find the one still active.

Thanks for sharing this. But its a bit much to expect the end user to go to the shed for the ladder to press the silence button the first time to find out that the fire is downstairs in the study.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe the whole face place is the silence 'button', so a simple broom stick should suffice, but I do agree if being awoken, startled in the middle of the night, scrambling to find the remote or something to silence an alarm may prove quite the challenge.

        • I would keep the remote mounted on the wall in the main bedroom. Alternatively, keep a solid chair or stool handy to stand on.

          • @artxo: Hi Artxo, we've found some people prefer to keep the ZEN remote control in their bedside drawer, or it comes with a wall mounting bracket and screw fixings where it can be attached in a central location like the hallway or lounge room etc

  • It appears they only have a 2 year warranty?
