Vodafone is the worst!

Hey guys,

I've been using vodafone service for years and known that it's been pretty shit for years. Only kept using them because everyone else in the family uses it and calls were cheaper.

But now I'm sick and tired of using their service - calls keep dropping out, takes me several attempts to call and text someone, 3G drops in and out, the list goes on…….. they are absolutely crap. What happened to the upgrades they said they'd do?

What makes it even worse is that I only live about 20 mins away from Brisbane CBD! Not even close to woop woop. No wonder why they are losing customers…

I've called to make complaints on several occassion but my calls always get diverted offshore to India or Philipines (Or wherever their call centres are) who always tells me to stand outside the house to make calls… wtf? i really shouldn't need to do that! what if it rains outside? just plain ignorant advice… And somehow the reception, when talking to them, is even better than me make a local call. This is NOT ON!

You'd think an international telecommunication company such as Vodafone would have the latest and greatest communication technology to give customers the best experience.

Anyway, can anyone tell me or recommend a better service provide for mobile that is pretty good quality and affordable? I'm thinking Telstra, but they cost a fair bit….

Or feel free to post about your bad experience with Vodafone (or any other networks). As paying customers, we deserve the best.

  • Lots of Optus based mobile cos. You might even be able to score a cheap trial to check the signal quality first.

There is a say…."you get what you pay for".
If you are looking for value for money…go to Vodafone.
If you are looking for quality…go to Telstra.
You cannot expect value for money & quality at the same time. It will never happen.

Vodafone is by no means value for money.

Vodafone is quite expensive for what it is. "You get what you pay for" doesn't accurately describe Voda, more like "pay through your nose and get shit service".

Your mileage will vary though. I get fairly decent service where I am, however there is a frequent issue that causes my phone to drop out of the network and I have to reboot the phone to restore connectivity.

  • when I left 3 for telstra, telstra were actually cheaper, true story :o

plus the coverage is a lot better for me, 5 bars at work when I got none from 3 (underground city worker)

"what if it rains outside?" It's been known to on occassion.
"I'm thinking Telstra, but they cost a fair bit…." Then I suggest Voda.

But more seriously, why not look at Kogans pre-paid mobile plans which use the Telstra network (except 4G). And if that doesnt suit, move on to another Telstra network reseller. Churn till you're happy + dont go contract.

Google Telstra resellers - though there wont be many.

  • It's true that sometimes the house is the problem. A lot of people that we get over say they get no reception, I tell them to move and try the other side of the house. Also depends on the phone and time of day (network usage). A huge problem with some phones are if they switch from 2G to 3G and vice versa it would cause a lots of problems, so you need to set your phone not to switch networks.

Optus and their Virgin is always second to Telstra, if your in suburbia it shouldn't matter though.

    • Thanks mate. I keep my 3G turned off when I'm at home but the reception is still crap.
Might just try Telstra pre-paid first and see how that goes…

    • i have a problem with my house, i rarely get any reception inside but when i go outside my phone gets full reception. (Optus)

    • At my house Vodafone 850MHz actually has best reception. In the living room my Exetel/Optus phone would occasionally drop out completely, and I often have to walk to the backyard to keep the conversation going. Telstra is a little bit better, and my friend's Vodafone usually has 4/5 bar even in my Optus black spot.

Yeah it really depends on house and location.

  • Fast, cheap, reliable - you can only choose two of these.
