Seems to be a useful way to redeem a lazy 10,000 points which aren't going to fly me anywhere.

    • Yeah it's bad value, but better than sitting on heaps of points that you can never use

    • Domestic economy reward flights start at 5,700 points plus taxes so even a small balance can still be useful.

      • +3

Thanks, I'll have another look into it. Getting rewards flights has been difficult in the past, plus I'm in WA, so there's that too!

When was the last time they did 30%? Feels like I've been waiting years.

Is selling my points an option?

    • +1

Yes, but it's more peer to peer (and also against ToS), you can find people doing it in the Forums on here for example.

It is definitely better value to sell them. But it comes with a risk of closing your QFF account permanently if caught. Try to ask around in your circle of family and friends first if someone wants to buy them. No risk if it is a family member and you just ‘gave’ them the points.
You can always use the points to book for someone else which isn’t against the T&C’s but you probably will get less than selling them.

      • Isn’t redeeming your points for someone else other than a relative also against T&Cs?

        • +1

It is yes.. but if you book for a close friend (who might also be your cousin) then it should be fine.

          • @Save 50 Cent: Ahhh gotcha. Everyone’s related!

I think purchasing flights rather than transferring points to a non eligible family member is less risky..

Hmm not sure if related or relevant just yet, but there were posts back then where commenters mentioned the effective equivalent of the points redeeming for these is not worth?

    • Not sure i understood you correctly but this is definitely not the best use of points. It will be worth more booking flights and maybe hotels but definitely not gift cards unless you are not planning on travelling anywhere

      • Not sure i understood you correctly but this is definitely not the best use of points.

Yes that's what I was referring to the other comments on other similar posts about these Qantas points redemptions

  • Works on Airbnb gift cards as well

    • Is it worth it with AirBnB giftcards?

      • Not really, unless you don’t have anything else to spend the points with.

Which cards are 20% off I'm too lazy to do the maths

I can’t even add any gift cards to cart. Using points or cash.

  • this is horrible deal. You can sell your QFF points for 1.4c PP and in effect buy a bigger gift card with the cash.

    • are you going to buy my points?

      • post it on ozb and it will sell eventually. Ive sold 200k this past week.

well the deal is good tbh but im saying better bang for buck if you do it another way
