I've had this set for a few years now so have experienced all of the ups and downs - AMA.

They're pretty good - they certainly have their limitations. Having to pull the ladder out to take them down to charge then getting back up every couple of months absolutely sucks though. I've previously bought solar panels thinking they'd all be compatible and they weren't (so if anyone has a link to some they are sure work, hit me up!).

I think the RRP is insane. I paid $400 on the official Eufy refurbished store

I use a battery and a cable to charge them. Don't need to take the camera down. Just secure the battery somewhere while it charges. Usually put it on charge in the morning and take it off at night is enough.

I experimented with some different solar panels and ended up with four of these that keep them fully charged. I leave them on full surveillance mode, the light turns on automatically in the dark when motion is detected, etc … all the things that should chew through the battery and even through days and days of overcast rainy weather, there's plenty of battery.

These are the ones I bought and they worked well. Even though others will say they work with Eufy 2C, make sure the solar panels you get have at least a 12W rating.

NB: Even though you can plug them in, the solar panels won't charge the Eufy doorbells. I'm not why exactly, but you do seem to be able to charge them from a battery pack, so I wonder if I can get a small battery pack to charge the doorbell and then charge the battery pack with one of the solar panels? Happy to hear anyone else's experience and/or thoughts on solar charging the doorbell. I even managed to get an ultra slim, right angled micro USB adaptor to fit behind the doorbell.

      Silicon Covers:
I've also fitted some of these covers, they dont' really do much to protect the lens from getting dirty but at least they offer some protection against UV to the body of the camera and the black ones make them a little less conspicuous.

      • Grabbed 4 - love your work

      • Maybe your panel has opposite polarity to the device?

      • "full surveillance mode" Does that mean it records 24/7?

Apologies "Optimal Surveillance" is the proper term. I just meant that I have been able to use the maximum energy use settings:
          + Optimal Surveillance
          + High Movement Detection Sensitivity
+ Detection Type set to All Motions
          + Full Activity Zone
          + Spotlight Brightness High
          + Spotlight Night Vision
          + Speaker Volume High

    • Do these require a monthly subscription to get object recognitions and better functionality?

Nope, everything is local, absolutely love Eufy

    • Why your solar is not compatible? What is your solar voltage? Can you use the voltage step up or down?

      • I have no idea why it doesn't work - nor does the myriad of reddit posts I've gone through. The official ones are only 3w and the ones I got were 5w and never worked. Seems it's a roll of the dice.

    • Get gutter mounts and you can connect the panels and cameras on one thing.
